There are different varieties that grow and bear fruit well in our climate.
Plants are adaptable to a particular climate, weather:
- “Cold-resistant F1”. Produces a high and high quality harvest. It is considered a medium early species, bears fruit 50−55 days after seed germination. It grows well both in greenhouses and in the open field. Powerful stems develop rapidly. The fruits are smooth, even, the surface is bumpy. They grow up to 30-50 cm. They are good both fresh and canned. The plant is resistant to diseases, safely tolerates coolness and shady places.
- “Chinese heat resistant F1”. It tolerates hot summer well. The variety is medium early, from the moment of germination to the appearance of fruits, it takes 48-54 days. It has one main powerful stem. Suitable for greenhouses and open ground. The fragrant pulp and thin skin of the fruit make them most suitable for fresh consumption. But the variety is considered versatile and suitable for blanks.
- “Chinese miracle”. A versatile variety. Fruits appear 55-60 days after germination. Unpretentious, tolerates any weather conditions – both heat and cold. Curved, long fruits with a lumpy surface. Disease resistant.
These varieties usually yield good yields. They do not deteriorate under the influence of external factors (sun, insects), always even and smooth.
Other varieties of long cucumbers
All varieties of Chinese cucumbers, popular in Russia, are highly resistant to diseases, unpretentious in terms of care and soil quality.
- “Farmer”. Yields a harvest 48−55 days after germination. Great for outdoor use. The stem is strongly branched, twisted, therefore it is recommended to tie it up on trellises. Fruits reach 45 cm, have a smooth and thin skin.
- “Chinese Disease-Resistant F1”. High-yielding variety. Not susceptible to disease.
- “Chinese snakes”. Reaches 60 cm in length. They have a high taste and are ideal for use in salads.
Gardeners advise constantly keeping the soil in which Chinese cucumbers grow moist. This will protect the fruits from drying out and preserve their juiciness and smoothness of the skin. Another feature: they grow rapidly. In one day, a small fruit can turn into a full-fledged cucumber, so check your harvest more often.
