We already know that this year’s Easter will pass in a similar way to last year’s holidays. Whether we approach the hard lockdown responsibly depends on whether the next weeks will bring the easing of restrictions and the improvement of the pandemic situation in Poland. Compliance with the rules for the next two weeks may not only stop the epidemic, but also ensure the safety of household members and people at risk, who are threatened by ignoring the rules of the sanitary regime.

In order for this Easter to be safe, we should first of all focus on self-isolation.
– If we want to spend Easter with our loved ones, we should limit or suspend any social contacts during the few days preceding the holidays – appealed in an interview with Medonet, Dr. of medical sciences Piotr Rzymski from the Medical University in Poznań. This is especially important if your family members include unvaccinated at risk people.
Dr hab. Roman explains what the self-isolation should look like.
– We suspend or limit social contacts as much as possible in order to minimize the risk of coronavirus infection and, consequently, the risk of COVID-19 transmission during Easter. In this way, we cover our loved ones with a protective umbrella.
The biologist also stressed to take into account your health condition. If we have symptoms of an infection or a cold, we should refrain from participating in a family meeting. The same applies to contact with an infected person. Even without a positive COVID-19 test, it’s better not to risk the health of your loved ones.
What is better not to do during Easter?
Easter in Poland is largely connected with religious rituals. Catholics should go to church at least on Holy Saturday and Holy Sunday. Meanwhile, the American CDC has identified temples as the easiest places to catch the coronavirus. This is due to the fact that during the mass the faithful speak, sing, shake hands and receive communion.
– Visits to churches with święconka, we should rather forgive ourselves – a few weeks ago, Dr. Tomasz Dziecistkowski said in an interview with Medonet.

This year’s Easter will be celebrated “in absentia” – through services on television, on the Internet or on the radio.
According to the CDC, family meetings, so important in the celebration of Easter, are in third place when it comes to the risk of coronavirus infection. So the safest thing to do would be to opt for an online Christmas breakfast.
– I heartily appeal, let’s take advantage of what technology offers us – said Dr. Aneta Afelt from the COVID-19 Team at the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences in an interview with Medonet. – Let’s spend this holiday together, but at a distance – via the Internet, communicators, by phone … Such closeness, although it is not physical, can have a deep spiritual dimension. And with this emotional, not physical aspect, we should “measure” the quality of our relationships in the present situation.
