Liquid powder for washing: pros, cons, rules of use

Liquid powder – this is what is most often called a laundry detergent with a liquid or gel-like formula. Liquid laundry detergent has both advantages and disadvantages compared to conventional laundry detergents. Let’s try to figure out how a liquid product differs from a powder one, how to use it correctly and for what types of fabric it is intended.

Pros and cons of liquid laundry detergents

Compositions with a liquid or gel-like formula, like powders, are intended for manual or automatic washing, but can only be used when washing in cold water or at a temperature not exceeding 60 degrees.

Liquid detergent does a good job on mild stains and doesn’t damage fabric.

Advantages of liquid and gel compositions for washing clothes:

  • easy to store and dispense;

  • when washing in cold water, there are no white streaks on things;

  • unlike powders, liquids and gels do not generate dust, which means they do not irritate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, which is especially important for allergy sufferers and persons suffering from asthma;

  • thanks to a special formula, they delicately affect the fabric without damaging it.

The disadvantages of liquid powders include:

  • relatively high cost;

  • ineffective against heavy dirt, greasy and oily stains;

  • shorter shelf life compared to powders.

Pour liquid detergent into the same compartment where you put the usual one. Some types of washing machines have a special liquid formula liner that fits in the main compartment. The only exceptions are gels packaged in capsules: they must be put directly into the drum along with the laundry.

Review of popular liquid detergents

We studied consumer reviews of different brands of liquid powders. Among the products of different price categories, the buyers are in demand:

  1. Tide Liquid Powder. Concentrated gel with a volume of 3 liters will replace up to 9 kg of powder. Does not contain bleach, therefore it can be used for colored and delicate fabrics. The packaging is equipped with a cap that allows you to accurately dispense the product.

  2. Ariel Liquid Powder. The concentrated gel can be used in all types of washing machines and is suitable for all types of fabrics. Copes with mild stains in cold wash without damaging fabrics.

  3. Weasel “Magic of Color”. Liquid for delicate washing of colored fabrics. Thanks to a special formula, it prevents color from washing out, does not leave streaks and gives the laundry a light pleasant aroma.

So, if you are looking for a product for colored or delicate fabrics that does not wash in hot water, which foams well, dissolves and rinses out without leaving streaks, liquid and gel formulas are what you need. If you need an inexpensive product that can cope with stubborn dirt, it is better to opt for a classic laundry detergent.
