Proper oral hygiene is the basis for a healthy smile. Good condition of the teeth and gums is not only a properly selected toothpaste and brush, but also an appropriate mouthwash. Why is it worth using mouthwash every day? How to choose one that will meet all our needs?

There is no need to convince anyone that you need to brush your teeth every day. However, in order to increase the chance of getting rid of pathogenic bacteria, and thus – the environment that favors their multiplication, it is necessary to supplement this care with additional preparations. Comprehensive oral hygiene also includes the use of a dental floss and a protective rinse. Both the thorough cleaning of the interdental spaces and the rinse rich in valuable ingredients significantly reduce the risk of caries and other periodontal diseases.

Why is it worth using mouthwash?

Experts agree that rinsing the mouth daily with a properly selected formulation has many benefits. They are mainly:

  1. caries prevention – is one of the common problems that affects people of all ages, from children to seniors. The cause of tooth decay is not only eating a lot of sweet food, but also inaccurate oral care. It is worth remembering that tooth decay is an infectious disease caused by strains of bacteria (mainly of the genus Streptococcus and Lactobacillus). Ignoring its symptoms and not treating it can negatively affect the entire body. Rinse fluid is an effective prophylaxis supporting the prevention of periodontal diseases by creating an environment in which the development of pathogens is inhibited;
  2. reducing the feeling of hypersensitivity – a piercing feeling of pain after consuming too warm or cold dishes or drinks may indicate tooth and gum sensitivity. Daily use of the rinse aid strengthens the enamel and makes the teeth more resistant to external factors such as high and low temperatures;
  3. increasing the effectiveness of brushing – vigorous rinsing of the mouth allows for more thorough removal of food debris remaining in the interdental spaces. To further increase the effectiveness of this product, you can pour it into the irrigator and brush your teeth under the right pressure;
  4. protection against plaque – dental plaque is an unsightly-looking thin layer of bacteria (most often milky or yellow) that appears on the surface of the enamel and in the interdental gaps. Its presence may contribute to the dissolution of enamel by acids and, consequently, to the formation of cavities. The mouthwash protects against the formation of plaque and additionally complements the effects of treatment, e.g. scaling;
  5. Eliminating bad breath – most mouthwashes available on the market have a mint and pleasant taste, which allows you to get rid of bad breath, e.g. after eating garlic.

What to consider when choosing a mouthwash?

When choosing a mouthwash, you should first of all pay attention to whether the product contains alcohol and whether it can be used by both children and adults. Such requirements are met by Eludril CARE with a pleasant, mint flavor. This preparation can be used every day without restrictions, also by people with implants, orthodontic appliances and prostheses.

The antibacterial effect of such a product is also important. The Eludril CARE fluid supports protection against colonization of bacteria promoting the development of caries. Importantly, it can also be used by people with sensitive gums prone to bleeding.

The composition of Eludril CARE includes chlorhexidine and cetylpyridine chloride, which are distinguished by their cleansing properties. As a result, the product increases the effectiveness of daily brushing and makes the gums less sensitive to irritation. The protection of enamel against plaque build-up has been clinically proven.

Who Should Reach For Mouthwash?

For prophylactic purposes, everyone can reach for the mouthwash. However, it is especially intended for people:

  1. with a tendency to excess plaque build-up;
  2. prone to gum problems;
  3. using dentures and wearing orthodontic appliances;
  4. preparing for dental treatment and for those in the maintenance phase after treatment.

How do I use mouthwash?

Experts recommend that you use the mouthwash twice a day after brushing your teeth. The amount of the preparation should be adjusted to the age of the user. Children from 6 to 12 years of age should use about 10 ml of undiluted liquid, eg Eludril CARE, and adults – 15 ml. The oral cavity should be rinsed with the preparation for about 30 seconds.

Introducing the liquid into daily oral hygiene helps to maintain proper oral health prophylaxis, including reducing the risk of various inflammations in the oral cavity and keeping the gums in good condition.
