Many people dream of having beautiful full lips that attract attention. The skin of the lips is much thinner than the skin of our body, which means that the signs of aging can be seen on it more quickly. Unfortunately, we usually forget to care for them and use only colorless lipstick. How to take care of the delicate skin of the lips?
During our daily body care, we often forget about our lips. We apply creams, lotions or specialized serums to both the body and face. In the case of lips, however, we often limit ourselves to applying a colorless lipstick before leaving the house. We often remember about their care when the first wrinkles appear around them, and they lose their firmness and a nice shade.
Mouth – construction
The lips are very delicate, which is why it is so easy to chap. The skin of the lips is extremely thin compared to the skin on our body. The lips do not have a protective layer, the so-called horny. They also do not have sebaceous glands that form a thin lipid layer on the skin to prevent moisture loss. This is why lips are so easily chapped and dry in the cold and wind.
Lips – care
Remember that a woman’s age is revealed not only by the skin under her eyes, but also by the condition of her lips. Wrinkles around the lips, dryness on their surface, faded and devoid of natural color lips give us age and take away our beauty. If we neglect lip care, even a well-groomed face will not help us.
Proper care is the key here. Unfortunately, its basis will not be a lipstick or lip gloss applied every day, or a protective lipstick.
Lip care is not very different from face care. It consists in providing the right nutrients and intensive moisturizing and lubricating. The skin of the lips is very delicate and many times thinner than the one on the face. The lack of sebaceous glands means that there is no sebum that protects against drying out by wind, air or sun.
Proper lip care is similar to face care. Lip care should include:
- peeling – lips peeling should be applied once a week. For this purpose, you can use the same cosmetic as on the face, as long as it is fine-grained. You can already get special lip scrubs in drugstores. However, remember to use them very gently, rubbing with only your fingertips,
- moisturizing and lubricating the lips every day – moisturizing and lubricating the lips should be applied twice a day: in the morning and in the evening. Do it right after applying the cream to your face to make it part of your daily rituals,
- regular use of anti-aging, protective and moisturizing lotions as well as those that enlarge the lips.
In the evening, you can take care of your lips even more. It is worth applying a slightly oiling balm on the lips, rich in nutrients, natural plant oils, mineral salts and vitamins. Cosmetics should contain:
- shea butter,
- macadamia nut oil,
- Argan oil,
- sweet almond oil,
- olive oil.
Each of these ingredients can be applied directly to the lips or you can make your own cosmetics at home. For example, you can mix the selected oil with liquid vitamin E and lemon juice and apply the mixture to your lips.
During the day, remember about protective lipsticks based on glycerin. Apply them to the lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss. It is good to have sunscreen.
Badly chosen cosmetics can harm the delicate skin of the lips. They can lead to dry lips, so it is worth choosing it appropriately to the season. In the autumn and winter periods, the lip balm should contain wax to create a protective barrier. In addition, it sticks to the lips better and penetrates the skin perfectly. Light sticks and glycerin lotions will be suitable for summer.
A good lip balm should contain basic ingredients, such as wax, silicones and glycerin, because other additives, such as hyaluronic acid, are usually negligible and do not affect the level of moisturization of the lips. For this reason, we recommend the nourishing Sylveco lipstick available on Medonet Market. You will also find birch and sea buckthorn balm there. We also recommend the nourishing protective lipstick Vianek, which regenerates dry and chapped skin of the lips.
Lips – make-up removal
Make-up lips are best removed with delicate foams. Their light consistency will not lead to dryness and irritation. It is good if such a lip cosmetic contains, for example, hyaluronic acid, glycol, glycerin, vit. A, E, or urea.
In the case of mature skin, it is worth reaching for a washable milk, which will additionally smooth and deeply nourish the delicate skin of the lips. Its composition includes, for example, collagen, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.
Women with oily skin have a thicker skin on the lips, so they can remove makeup from their lips with gels and soap. Dry skin requires the use of products with allanthol, urea, d-panthenol and ceramides. When removing waterproof or permanent makeup, choose two-phase products.
Regardless of how you remove the lipstick from your lips, be sure to rinse them with clean water afterwards. This way you will remove the remnants of the lip make-up remover.
Lips – ways to get bigger lips

- exhaling forcefully with the mouth,
- lip liner and lip gloss.
