Lip oil

With cold weather, this problem worsens again: the lips dry, become weathered, and may even begin to crack. And without explanation, it is clear that rich, nourishing and gentle lip oils are what you need in this situation.

Benefits of lip oil

The editors of Healthy-Food are sincerely convinced that there is no better way to care for lips at home than oil. Let’s tell you a secret that in addition to nourishing, moisturizing and protecting the skin, it also visually makes the lips a little more plump. Lip oil is sold everywhere – in a cosmetics store, in a pharmacy, and in a supermarket. Only an allergy to the main component can be a contraindication to use, although in this case you can simply replace the remedy with another one that is similar in effect.

Food

Olive, argan, almond, shea – almost all vegetable oils, including the ubiquitous sunflower, saturate the skin with vitamins and nutrients.

humidification

This property is possessed, for example, by rose oil, shea butter, neroli and saffron.

Shine

And not only shine, but also radiance: the skin, satiated, seems to glow from the inside.

Visual increase in volume

Yes, peppermint oil is especially effective in this sense.

There is no better lip care product.

What oils are used in lip care

Different types of oils are used for lip care.
  1. Basic – coconut, olive, grape seed oil, wheat germ, avocado, cocoa and others. They are often used as a base, a basis for cosmetic and essential oils, but they are also used as independent products (naturally, after the necessary processing).

  2. Essential – mint oil, lemon balm, lavender, cinnamon, rose, tea tree and others. These volatile substances cannot be used on their own (with the possible exception of lavender and tea tree essential oils). Therefore, they are mixed with the base ones – often one drop of essential oil is enough.

  3. Cosmetic oils are ready-made beauty products and, according to Garnier expert Marina Kamanina, a good alternative to cream: “They perfectly restore dehydrated lips, nourishing and soothing it.” You can alternate cream or lip balm with oil for best results.

Olive oil is a base oil: it is used both as a base for cosmetics and by itself.

Linseed oil moisturizes, smoothes the skin of the lips, accelerates the recovery process.

Olive softens, has an anti-aging effect, “brings to life” dehydrated skin.

Mint increases blood flow to the lips – they look more plump, voluminous. To get the desired effect, you can mix a drop of peppermint oil with a drop of lemon and rub it with a small amount of your favorite lip balm.

Jojoba oil fights dryness and flaking, has a lifting effect, protects against aggressive environmental factors.

Coconut perfectly softens, moisturizes, makes the skin more elastic.

Tea tree oil has an antimicrobial effect, fights inflammation.

Grape seed oil moisturizes the skin, normalizes its lipid balance, has an antioxidant effect.

Castor restores and strengthens the skin of the lips, makes it softer and more elastic, effectively fights wrinkles.

Almond prevents photoaging, moisturizes, nourishes and strengthens the skin.

Home care

  • First, test the oil to see if it will cause allergies. If there is no negative reaction, it can be used instead of lip balm. However, this applies only to base oils. With the use of essential oils for lips, even mixed with base oils, one must be extremely careful!

  • You can prepare a scrub by adding sugar or candied honey to the oil, apply it with light massage movements on the lips, and then rinse.

  • If your lips are dry and cracked, try an oil mask. The oil is applied in a thick layer and left overnight.

First, test the oil to see if it will cause allergies.

Which oil is better to choose

It depends on two factors:
  • what problems do you face (dryness, fine wrinkles), linseed oil and jojoba oil are suitable for moisturizing the skin, coconut oil is suitable for recovery, etc.

  • what time of year it is: in summer it is better to use lighter oils – olive, grape seed oil, etc., in winter – thicker and richer castor, coconut, etc.
