Linden in the fall: planting, transplanting

Linden is one of the most popular large-sized trees used to decorate the territory, as well as alleys and parks. In autumn and spring, the tree looks very attractive and gives the garden a special charm. The most impressive is a lonely tree, the crown of which is formed in the correct way.

How linden is planted in autumn

It is preferable to plant seedlings in late autumn, in late October – early November. At this time of the year, physiological processes slow down in almost all plants, which will allow the tree to quickly take root in a new place. The younger the tree, the more successful the rooting process will be.

Linden, transplanted in autumn, will take root more successfully in a new place.

It is recommended to purchase planting material in specialized nurseries.

Linden seedlings should be healthy and free of signs of bacterial or fungal infections. There should be no traces of stem insect activity on them.

Stages of planting linden seedlings:

  1. Prepare the landing pit in advance. Its dimensions should be approximately 50 × 50 × 50 cm.
  2. Place a 12-15 cm thick drainage layer at the bottom of the pit. Crushed stone or pebbles can be used as drainage.
  3. Pour soil mixed with 50 g of superphosphate over the drain. Place the seedling on this mixture. The roots in the hole should be evenly and freely spaced.
  4. Cover the roots of the seedling with soil and water the planting abundantly.
  5. Tie the seedling to a pre-prepared peg. This will help keep it out of wind gusts.

When planting, it is necessary to ensure that the root collar of the plant is at ground level and is not buried. When planting several seedlings, the distance between them should be at least 4 m.

Linden transplant in the fall: process features

Transplanting large trees has its advantages. The owner of the site does not have to wait several years for the tree to grow in all its glory. But it should be borne in mind that the younger the transplanted tree, the greater the chances of its successful rooting.

The process of replanting large-sized trees requires a serious approach and planning. If there is such an opportunity, then it is better to entrust this work to professionals.

As a rule, a linden tree is transplanted in the autumn with a lump of earth on the roots. It is not recommended to leave the seedling with bare roots outdoors, therefore, the planting pit is prepared in advance. It must be filled with a drainage layer and a nutritious soil mixture. For the early rehabilitation of the plant after planting, one can use such stimulators of the growth of the root system as “Kornevin”.

Compliance with the basic recommendations and rules for planting and replanting linden will allow you to decorate the landscape design of your site with beautiful trees. Linden not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but also allows you to give your estate a complete and harmonious image.
