Lime Syrup: Homemade Recipe

Lime syrup has a characteristic green color and a citrus flavor with a pleasant smell. No wonder the drink is so popular with bartenders.

Making lime syrup

Ingredients

  1. Limes – 1 kg

  2. Sugar – 1kg

  3. Water – 1 cup

Method of preparation

  1. Scald the limes with boiling water and pat dry with a towel. For longer storage, they are sometimes covered with a thin layer of paraffin, and these particles can get into the syrup.

  2. Squeeze juice from limes.

  3. Drain the resulting juice through a sieve into a saucepan, add water, add all the sugar and cook until the liquid thickens.

  4. You can add spices if you wish. Cinnamon or mint goes great with lime.

  5. Pour hot syrup into bottles and close tightly.

  6. Store in the refrigerator for no more than a year.
