Planting and caring for Meyer’s lilac “Palibin”
Meyer’s lilac “Palibin” can be grown in different ways, but it is better to do it from seedlings. For this:
- In late autumn, on a sunny and windless area, dig up the ground and dig holes. They must be large enough for the root system to fit completely.
- Add fertilizer to the pit – compost, humus and ash. Lilac is undemanding to the soil, but it is desirable that it be fertile, loose and slightly alkaline.
- Place the roots of the seedlings in the ground and cover them.
- Water the soil liberally and mulch the top layer. Use peat, humus or straw for this.
This is how the autumn planting of seedlings in open ground takes place. Despite the fact that the plant is not afraid of frost, young seedlings should be covered with dense material for the winter.
As it grows, lilacs need simple care. Water it during the growing season and during drought. After that, remove the weeds and gently loosen the soil no more than 4 times per season.
Cut off damaged branches from the 3rd year after planting
Remove old, faded shoots from an adult plant. This should be done annually, in early spring. Pruning can also form a spherical bush.
Feed the plant in the spring and after flowering. Apply complex fertilizers to the soil. In the fall, lilacs do not need feeding.
Lilac of this variety is an undemanding plant. It is easy to plant and grow on the site. In response to the care, the Palibin lilac will become the first plant in the garden to present beautiful flowers to the grower.
