Lifting face mask

Today it is already difficult to imagine quality skin care without face masks. They are very diverse, and we have a separate article devoted to each variety. The turn has come to a mask with a lifting effect – let’s see what it is capable of, whether it is possible to prepare it yourself or it is better to trust professionals.

What is a lifting face mask

A mask with a lifting effect is a mask aimed at tightening the skin, increasing its elasticity and lightly correcting the oval of the face.

Such masks are presented on the market very widely and are available in different formats:

  • fabric / gel / collagen – these are disposable masks;

  • creamy – their texture can be either lighter, close to cream-gel, or more dense; may be “creamy” or “melting”;

  • alginate – are sold in the form of a powder, which is activated by a liquid and hardens on the face, turning into a plastic mask.

Who needs a mask with a lifting effect

Obviously, a mask with a lifting effect belongs to the category of anti-aging cosmetics. This product is worth paying attention to those who have already encountered such age-related changes as:

  • wrinkles;

  • loss of elasticity and firmness;

  • deformation of the oval of the face;

  • sagging soft tissue (ptosis).

This mask can be recommended for use after 35 years. There is no upper age limit. However, the lifting mask can also be used before the manifestation of age-related changes, if there is dryness, dullness and “fatigue” of the skin, because, as a rule, anti-aging masks have an intense moisturizing effect, strengthen the skin’s protective barrier, and give radiance.

Comparison of a homemade remedy and a finished mask

Effective lifting masks are quite difficult to prepare at home, and here’s why.

The mask should be easy to use and enjoyable.

Composition

Ready-made lifting masks are based on concentrated formulas that combine components of not only immediate, but also cumulative action, often aimed at stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin skeleton. That is, we are talking about complex anti-aging complexes and special technologies, the development of which takes years. It is unlikely that egg whites or oils, even organic ones, can compete with them.

Efficiency

Home masks can do a lot – moisturize the surface of the epidermis, soften the skin, tone it up, make it smoother, even and, as a result, radiant. This is a lot, but it is naive to count on a serious anti-aging effect and lifting.

Ease of use

The texture of ready-made masks (cream, gel) is created taking into account factors such as ease of application and rinsing, ease of use of the product and pleasure to use. In this sense, it is difficult for homemade masks to compete with professional products. Especially when it comes to masks based on fabric, biocellulose, hydrogel – it is impossible to make a competitive product with your own hands.

Expert opinion:

“When we talk about the lifting effect, we mean that the contour of the face will become clearer, the skin more elastic. To achieve this result, the products include components that can provide a modeling effect, for example, waxes: bees and carnauba (palm wax, also known as the “king of waxes”).

Review of the best cosmetic face masks with a lifting effect

The Healthy-Food editors share a list of their favorites. In this rating, we have included the best, in our opinion, masks that have a lifting effect.

Highly concentrated sheet mask for aging skin, Garnier

The mask with watermelon and hyaluronic acid perfectly moisturizes the skin, gives it radiance, reduces the visibility of wrinkles in just 30 minutes.

Sheet mask for the face “Age expert 45+”, L’Oréal Paris

The mask, based on a formula with proretinol, peptides and hyaluronic acid, is aimed at restoring the protective barrier of the skin and increasing its elasticity. Plus, it adds radiance and makes signs of fatigue less noticeable. It is applied for 15 minutes (remains must be removed). You can also use it as a leave-in mask at night.

Age Expert 55+ Repair Sheet Mask, L’Oréal Paris

Nourishing apricot oil, strengthening adenosine, moisturizing hyaluronic acid are combined in the formula of this mask to increase elasticity, give elasticity, improve complexion, that is, to comprehensively solve the problems of mature skin. The mask should be applied and left for 15 minutes – without interruption from pressing matters.

Night cream-mask for the face “Hyaluron Expert”, L’Oréal Paris

Elasticity, elasticity, firmness of the skin depend, among other things, on the level of hyaluronic acid in the cells. With age, its production in the skin decreases, hence the consequences: lethargy, sagging, fine wrinkles, dull complexion. Composition: two types of hyaluronic acid to restore elasticity. The exposure time is 5 minutes.

How to use a lifting effect mask to tighten the skin of the face

The method of applying the mask depends on its format and texture.

Cream

Apply along the massage lines with ascending, smoothing movements.

Cream masks are usually used in two ways:

  • as an express agent, the composition is applied in a thick layer, kept for 15 minutes, the residues are removed with a napkin;

  • as an indelible mask, apply a thin layer before going to bed, leave overnight.

Fabric

Masks with a base of fabric, hydrogel, collagen sheet are applied for 15-20 minutes, after exposure, the woven base is thrown away, and the unabsorbed remnants of the impregnation are distributed over the face with massage movements.

Alginate

These masks are not washed off, but are removed from the face with a whole film. To enhance the effect before the mask, you can apply your favorite serum.

General rules

  • Masks are applied only to cleansed skin.

  • Preliminarily, it is advisable to carry out a light peeling with a scrub or gommage.

  • If you have time and desire, you can steam your face before the mask.

How to make a lifting mask at home

Here we have collected the most popular folk recipes for lifting masks. Worth a try if you trust homemade cosmetics.

With milk and gelatin

You can make a collagen mask from gelatin, because gelatin is nothing more than detailed collagen of animal origin. It should be noted that the mask of this substance does not have any effect on the level of collagen in the skin, but it has a moisturizing and softening effect, and goes well with other components. On the face, the mask turns into a film that tightens the skin (that’s the whole “lifting” for you). It is important in no case to tear it off the face, so as not to injure the tissues. Better rinse.

  • In 2-3 tablespoons of milk, add 1 tablespoon of gelatin.

  • Let stand 5 minutes.

  • Heat (do not boil) the mixture until the granules dissolve.

  • Cool to a comfortable temperature. At this stage, you can enrich the composition with additives (honey, for example).

  • Apply to the face – can be in several layers, allowing each previous layer to dry a little.

  • Leave for 5 minutes.

The mask can be prepared from edible ingredients.

Mask with buttermilk and oatmeal

Instead of buttermilk, you can take milk and add a little of any fermented milk product for a slight renewing effect. In general, this “rejuvenating” mask softens and smoothes the skin well, and with regular use helps maintain the protective properties of the skin, which is extremely important for its appearance. However, a serious lifting, alas, is not worth counting on. This applies to any home masks.

  • Mix buttermilk with oatmeal, heat over low heat until oatmeal softens.

  • Add coconut, olive, almond or any other vegetable oil of your choice – 1 teaspoon.

  • Apply the still warm (but not hot!) mixture on the face and neck, leave for 20 minutes.

With flax

Flax, like gelatin and egg white, belongs to the film-forming tightening components, which are credited with lifting properties, and completely in vain. There is a difference between “tightening” and “tightening”. However, linen – and you can’t refuse it – softens and moisturizes the skin well. The main thing is to wash off the mask, and not to tear off the resulting film from the face.

  • 2 teaspoons of flax seeds pour ½ cup of boiling water and leave overnight. (Another option is to put the mixture on the fire and cook for 15-20 minutes until a jelly-like substance forms.)

  • Strain and (if cooked on fire) cool.

  • Add honey, oils (vegetable or essential), fruits, berry juice – a matter of fantasy.

  • Apply jelly on face in layers.

  • Wash off after drying.

After washing off homemade masks, do not forget to wipe your face with tonic and apply moisturizing care.
