Life position — manifested in thoughts, statements, deeds and actions, the general attitude (holistic, systemic) of a person to the world around him, people and himself. Not just the ability, but the willingness to act in a certain way.
For example, responsibility is the ability to bear the burden of life. The position of responsibility is the willingness to burden yourself with this.
Examples of life positions:
- Active and passive life position
- Angel’s position.
“I am where I am needed!”, “I am fine. I’m happy for you if I could help you
- The position of the Author — or, on the contrary, the position of the Victim.
“I am the author (acting principle) of my life, my choices and my actions, I am responsible for what I do and what happens to me.” Or: “The events of my life are determined by different circumstances. From them — and ask … What can I do?
- Position of innocence
- Position of Responsibility
- Position of the Creator

Life positions in transactional analysis
In transactional analysis, life positions are described in the O’K Corral typology (E. Bern, F. Ernst), which distinguishes four attitudes towards oneself and other people: 1) I am OK; You are OK; 2) I am not OK; You are OK; 3) I am OK; You are not OK; 4) I am not OK; You are not OK. See →
In the personal position, the following life positions can be distinguished: isolation, I-centering, I-other — integration, other-centering, merging (“Pedagogical psychology of education” — O.V. Lishin).
In the social position, five types of life position can be distinguished: alienation, narcissism, egoism, humanism, altruism, conformism. (Magomed-Eminov M.Sh. «Transformation of personality». M., 1998. S. 400-411).
