Licorice root is often given to children in the form of a syrup.

The doctor prescribes a remedy for such diseases:

  • Acute or chronic bronchitis;
  • Bronchial asthma;
  • Gastritis;
  • Pneumonia;
  • Tracheitis, etc.

The drug has a wide range of effects. Its properties include:

  • Removal of coughing fits;
  • Excretion of phlegm from the respiratory tract;

You need to take it by diluting the indicated dose in the instructions with boiled water. When prescribing, doctors prescribe to babies from 1 year to 3 years old 2,5 mg 3 times a day. From 3 to 6 years of age, children should be given 3-5 grams of the drug, from 7 to 10 years old – up to 7 grams, from 10 to 12 years old – 9-10 grams. For adults and children over 12 years of age, the dose is 15 grams 3 times a day.

How long to take licorice root

Depending on the duration of admission, adverse reactions may occur. Also, the remedy cannot be beneficial if the disease is too advanced and urgent intensive care is required in the hospital. The root cannot be used in the treatment of infants with diabetes mellitus, a serious form of asthma. Signs of intolerance can be rashes, itching, redness of the skin, shortness of breath, and if they manifest, you must stop taking the drug.

There is a very simple rule for taking licorice root – drip as many drops into boiled water as the baby is full years old. You need to take an effective medicine after meals 3 times a day. Be healthy!
