Vladimir Lvovich Levy (born November 18, 1938, Moscow) is a Russian doctor, psychologist, writer, artist and musician.
V. L. Levi is a doctor of medical sciences, a doctor of psychological sciences, an author of scientific papers and popular books on psychology and medicine, a psychotherapist with many years of experience. Author of the project «Musical Pharmacy: Music for Life» on Radio Russia (together with his son Maxim Levy).
Biography
Vladimir Lvovich Levy, Doctor of Medicine and Psychology, was born on November 18, 1938 in Moscow, where he lives to this day. He graduated from medical school, worked as an emergency doctor, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, then as a researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry, where he became one of the founders of a new direction in psychological medicine: suicidology — the study and prevention of suicide.
Later he worked in the field of scientific and practical psychology at the Institutes of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Education; dealt with the problems of raising children, psychotherapy of children and adolescents, psychological assistance to families, psychotherapy of extreme conditions and personality crises, psychology of art. Author of over 60 scientific papers.
Since 1974 he has been a member of the Writers’ Union. One of the co-founders of the European Cultural Club and the International Association for Personal Growth. Continues medical and psychological practice, scientific work and literary activity. Since 2005, he has been the author and host of the popular radio program Musical Pharmacy. Married, five children.
The first book, Thought Hunt, was published in 1967. It was a book about psychiatry, a book that was scientific, medical, and artistic. This was followed by «Me and Us» (the first prize of the Knowledge Society — a book called a novel in European translations), «The Art of Being Oneself» (world bestseller, millions of copies), «The Art of Being Different», «Conversation in Letters», » The Color of Fate”, “People Are Lucky”, “Non-Standard Child”, the three-volume book “Confessions of a Hypnotist” and an audio CD of the same name with poems and author’s music performed by his own.
The books earned the author all-Russian (previously all-Union) fame and worldwide fame. In times of book shortage, many copied by hand. Still sold in pirated reprints. Translated into 26 languages. In 2000, he published a large book of poems, Crossed Out Profile, which quickly became a bibliographic rarity. The first publications of poems were back in the 80s in the magazines «New World», «Spark»; several poems are placed in the collection «500 best poems of the world.» In this millennium, he published the books The Taming of Fear, Traumatology of Love, The Wagon of Good Luck, Family Wars, Closer to the Body (together they made up the large book The ABC of Sanity), The Cure for Laziness, Where to Live «,» Mistakes in Health», «The Hired God» (with a novel and a large selection of poems inside), «The Lonely Friend of the Lonely» (essays and poems). All these books are written in a multi-genre — a free combination of fiction, medical and psychological didactics, journalism, essays, dramaturgy, poetry. The drawings are mostly original.
