Levi’s director explains why he hasn’t washed jeans for 10 years

And he assures that they look like new.

Want to save your jeans? Never put them in the washing machine. Such advice comes from Levi’s director Chip Berg. The head of the company admits that he has not washed his jeans in a typewriter for 10 (!) Years. Otherwise, according to Chip, the material wears out quickly, loses color and fades.

“My favorite jeans are 10 years old and they still look great. When I die, they will probably be put on my tombstone, ”Chip joked in an interview with CNN. If you talk to true denim aficionados, they will all agree that you should never wash your jeans. And if spots appear, I clean them by hand. In the worst case, I wash my jeans with my hands. And I do it myself. “

We don’t even know what is more surprising in this confession of Chip: the fact that the head of the denim empire has been wearing only jeans for 10 years, or that the head of the company washes his own clothes with his own hands.

“I love and care about my jeans,” says Berg.

Chip emphasizes: by refusing to wash, you not only preserve the appearance of your jeans, but also take care of the environment.

“I know ’10 years without washing’ sounds disgusting. But I’m fine. I don’t suffer from skin problems or anything else because I don’t wash my jeans, ”says Berg.

By the way, on the Internet it is advised to put jeans in the freezer to kill all the germs that accumulate on the trousers. But Chip also rejected this cleaning technology.

“These are all grandmother’s tales, they don’t work,” Berg dismissed.

However, if you are not yet ready to give up washing, but want to keep the original look of your jeans as long as possible, wash them in cool water, turning them inside out.

Another way is to soak your jeans for an hour in cold water with 200 ml of white distilled vinegar. Such a solution will rid the thing of unpleasant odors and preserve its color.
