The winners of the 20nd edition of the Grant for Health competition were the Overcoming Endometriosis Foundation and the StwardenieniRozsiane.info Foundation, which submitted projects that accurately respond to the most urgent needs of important groups of patients. Gedeon Richter and the Institute of Patient Rights and Health Education announced the winners of the competition during the 000th Patient Organization Forum traditionally organized by IPPiEZ on the occasion of the World Day of the Sick. The distinguished organizations received grants in the amount of PLN XNUMX for the implementation of the winning projects.
The aim of the competition “Grant for health – Gedeon Richter and the Institute of Patient Rights and Health Education in the service of patients” is to distinguish and promote associations that implement or plan to implement projects that improve the quality and comfort of life in the field of women’s health. Gedeon Richter is the initiator of the competition, which was first announced in October 2020.
Huge interest in the Competition in its first edition confirmed our belief that our idea is needed and it is necessary to continue it. – explains Aneta Grzegorzewska, Director of the Corporate Division and External Relations Gedeon Richter Polska – Thanks to this initiative, we can be even closer to patients and support them in their most urgent needs. Invariably, for many years, women have been at the center of the therapeutic interest of our company. We realize that caring for their health is much more than providing valuable therapies. Patients also need support in coping with the disease and help in everyday life. We are proud and happy that, thanks to the Grant for Health grant program, we will bring another real help to patients who often remain outside the support of the system.
Grants on the World Day of the Sick
The Institute of Patient Rights and Health Education has been pleased to take the substantive patronage over the Grant for Health Competition, as this initiative supports patient organizations in fulfilling their mission. – says Igor Grzesiak, Vice President of the Management Board of the Institute for Patients’ Rights and Health Education – The granted grants will enable the implementation of projects in areas requiring support and contributing to the implementation of the most urgent needs of important groups of patients. The World Day of the Sick is the most appropriate occasion to announce the results of such a competition, so we organize the grant award ceremony during the Patient Organization Forum organized by the IPPiEZ.
On the eve of Endometriosis Awareness Month – March 2022
Awareness of endometriosis in Poland is very low, while it is a disease that makes normal life difficult or even impossible, and in Poland it may affect up to 3 million women. – says Lucyna Jaworska-Wojtas, President of the Overcome Endometriosis Foundation. – A huge problem is the lack of an accurate diagnosis and proper care for suffering women, who require meticulous monitoring of their own health and control of drug use and diet. The grant received will allow for the implementation of a project addressing these needs and the creation of the EndoAsystent mobile application, the inauguration of which will take place during the nationwide conference “Let’s overcome endometriosis”. We are very pleased with the award, because the problem is very important due to its scale and nature, and our patients were left without support and help for a long time. In March, we are celebrating Endometriosis Awareness Month, so let’s work together to Overcome Endometriosis by building social awareness!
MS has a feminine side
Multiple sclerosis is most often diagnosed among young people (20-40 years old) and mostly affects women (approx. 71%). Therefore, the disease appears when important life plans are implemented, including, in particular, those related to starting a family and motherhood. Sick women face dilemmas regarding the course of pregnancy or contraception, in which they are left without substantive and psychological support; recently also in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. – explains Monika Łada, President of the StrwadnienieRozsiane.info Foundation. – Thanks to the grant awarded, we will create an educational and informative portal for women suffering from multiple sclerosis, which will be a guide for them in matters of planning motherhood, pregnancy or contraception in the context of the disease, as well as broadly understood health and mental well-being, also in the pandemic era. Thanks to this, we will provide support, raise the level of knowledge and awareness of the Female side of MS.
