Lesinelle – an oral contraceptive. How to use?

Freedonel is an oral contraceptive that consists of two components: drospirenone (a progestogen) and ethinylestradiol (a synthetic estrogen). The indication for use is pregnancy prevention.

Lesinelle and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Freedonel are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. Venous thrombosis now or in the past (e.g. deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism),
  3. current or past arterial thrombosis (e.g. stroke, heart attack) or conditions that may be the first sign of thrombosis (e.g. angina, transient cerebral ischemia)
  4. a cerebrovascular accident now or in the past,
  5. the presence of severe or multiple risk factors for arterial thrombosis: diabetes mellitus with vascular changes, severe arterial hypertension, severe dyslipoproteinaemia,
  6. hereditary or acquired susceptibility to venous or arterial thrombosis (e.g. protein C deficiency, resistance to activated protein C, antithrombin III deficiency, protein S deficiency, hyperhomocysteinemia and the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies: anticardiolipin antibodies, lupus anticoagulant),
  7. migraine with a history of focal neurological symptoms,
  8. pancreatitis with or in the past severe hypertriglyceridaemia
  9. past or present of severe liver failure as long as liver function tests have normalized,
  10. severe or acute renal failure
  11. liver cancer now or in the past
  12. Known or suspected neoplastic conditions of the reproductive organs or breasts dependent on the influence of sex hormones,
  13. unexplained vaginal bleeding
  14. pregnancy or suspicion of it,
  15. the period of breastfeeding.

Dosage of Lesinelle

Orally.

  1. Take 1 tablet once a day at the same time for 1 days.
  2. Then, for 7 days, no medication is taken, and during this break, withdrawal bleeding occurs. The next pack should be started after the 7-day break, even if the withdrawal bleeding is still ongoing.

Lesinelle – warnings

  1. A doctor should be consulted if during the treatment you experience: unilateral pain and / or swelling in the lower limb, sudden, severe pain in the chest, which may radiate to the left arm, shortness of breath, cough, headaches, double vision, tingling, dizziness , fainting, movement disorders, acute abdomen, epilepsy, partial or complete loss of vision.
  2. Worsening of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis have been observed with COC use.
  3. Liesinelle should not be used in pregnant or breast-feeding women.
  4. Jaundice and / or pruritus related to cholestasis, cholelithiasis, porphyria, systemic lupus erythematosus, haemolytic uremic syndrome, Sydenham’s chorea, gestational herpes, otosclerosis with hearing loss have not been proven. in connection with taking the preparation).
  5. There is an increased risk of thromboembolism when using oral contraceptives (the greatest risk occurs within the first year of taking them).
  6. Women with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, primary lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take Freedonel as it contains lactose.
  7. In some women withdrawal bleeding may not occur during the break in taking Freedonel tablets. If the preparation has been used in accordance with the instructions, the probability of becoming pregnant is very small.

Lesinelle took a sip

Tell your doctor about the concomitant use of medications such as:

  1. as phenytoin;
  2. barbiturany;
  3. karbamazepina;
  4. prymidon;
  5. ryfampicyna;
  6. oxcarbamazepine;
  7. topiramate;
  8. felbamate;
  9. rytonawir;
  10. preparations containing the extract of the herb Hypericum perforatum St. John’s wort;
  11. penicillin and tetracycline antibiotics may also reduce the contraceptive effectiveness of the preparation.

The above-mentioned drugs should not be used together with Freedonel.

Lesinelle – side effects

The contraceptive Lesinelle may cause, among others: headache, abdominal pain, acne, breast pain, breast enlargement, breast tenderness, dysmenorrhea, bleeding not related to the menstrual cycle, weight gain.

Uncommonly the following may occur: candidiasis, herpes virus infection, allergic reactions, increased appetite, depression, nervousness, sleep disorders, decreased libido, paraesthesia, vertigo, visual disturbances, extrasystoles, tachycardia, pulmonary embolism, hypertension, hypotension, varicose veins, inflammation throat, nausea, vomiting, gastroenteritis, diarrhea, constipation, gastrointestinal disorders, angioedema, alopecia, eczema, itching, rash, dry skin, seborrhea, skin disease, neck pain, pain in extremities, muscle cramps, cystitis, breast cancer, fibrocystic breast dysplasia, galactorrhoea, ovarian cyst.
