Lerivon is an antidepressant drug, a derivative of piperazine azepine.

Lerivon – action

The active substance of the preparation is mianserin. The mechanism of its action is based on the inhibition of the alpha-2-adrenergic receptor and the enhancement of the metabolism of norepinephrine in the brain. It does not inhibit peripheral norepinephrine reuptake, acts antagonistically towards some serotonergic receptors and the H1 receptor, practically devoid of cholinolytic activity. It also has an anxiolytic and calming effect, improves the quality of sleep by extending and deepening itpractically has no effect on the cardiovascular system.

The preparation is indicated for the treatment of depressive symptoms of various origins, in the case of which pharmacological treatment is indicated.

Lerivon – contraindications

Contraindication to the use of the preparation there are mania, severe liver failure, parallel use of MAO inhibitors (monoamine oxidases, e.g. selegiline, moclobemide). Certain diseases and other circumstances may constitute a contraindication to the use or an indication for a change in the dosage of the preparation. In some situations it may be necessary to carry out certain check-ups. Data on the long-term safety of mianserin use in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age are limited. There are no long-term safety data on cognitive and behavioral development. If the doctor decides that a child should be treated with this preparation, the patient’s development should be monitored, as well as his behavior in terms of suicidal thoughts and behavior (in this age group the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior and hostility is highest). If you notice any abnormalities, contact your pediatrician immediately. While using the preparation (especially in the first days of treatment), patients should not drive or use moving mechanisms.

Lerivon – dosage

The preparation is in the form of coated tablets. It is intended for oral use. The preparation should be used orally, initially it is recommended to use 30 mg / day in divided doses or once at bedtime. The dose may be gradually increased by your doctor every few days until it reaches 60-90 mg / day, until you respond to treatment, usually within 2-4 weeks. If you do not feel better within this time, your doctor will likely stop your treatment and tell you what to do next. After clinical improvement is achieved, treatment is recommended to be continued for 4-6 months.
