The problem of arterial hypertension affects a large group of people. However, effective treatment can reduce the negative effects of the disease. Lercan, a drug dedicated to patients with elevated blood pressure, helps in this. Its use should be supervised by a doctor.
Lercan – indications
Lercan tablets are used in the cardiological treatment of the cardiovascular system. It works well in the case of hypertension – effectively reducing it.
Lercan – dosage
Lercan film-coated tablets should be taken orally. The dose and frequency of intake is determined by the doctor. It is important not to drink alcoholic beverages while taking Lercan, as its effects increase the effects of the drug. It is also not recommended to consume grapefruit and grapefruit juice during treatment. The substances it contains may lead to an increase in the concentration of Lercan in the blood, and thus increase the side effects.
Lercan – contraindications
In some situations, the use of Lercan should be carefully discussed with your doctor. You should not take Lercan if:
- allergic to the active substance, lercanidipine hydrochloride, or any other ingredient of the drug, including lactose,
- heart disease and kidney or liver problems
- taking antifungal, antiviral, diuretic or ACE inhibitors, macrolide antibiotics, cimetidine, digoxin, midazolam, rifiampucin, phenytoin or carbamazepine, astemizole or terfenadine, as well as amiodarone or quinidine,
- taking other medications, even those available without a prescription.
- pregnancy, presumption of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Lercan – side effects
The more common side effects after Lercan include:
- headache and dizziness
- an accelerated beating rate and even heart palpitations,
- swelling around the ankles
- redness in the face and neck area as well as the upper chest area.
Taking Lercan less frequently causes:
- drowsiness and fatigue,
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn and stomach pain
- skin rash
- passing large amounts of urine frequently,
- muscle pain,
- swelling of the gums
- abnormalities in the proper functioning of the liver visible in laboratory tests.
Other, more serious, but also less common side effects of taking Lercan are:
- fainting
- angina,
- lowering the pressure,
- pain in the chest,
- allergic reactions such as hives, itching and rash.
When treating with the Lercan medical device, it should be taken into account that possible dizziness, weakness and fatigue may influence the full ability to use machines and drive vehicles. The manufacturer of the drug recommends abandoning these activities in the presence of such side effects of the drug.
Lercan – cena
Lercan is available in pharmacies only with a prescription. The preparation is not refundable. It is sold in packs of 28 tablets with a different concentration of the active substance in one tablet. Lercan 10 mg costs about PLN 15, and Lercan 20 mg about PLN 20.
