The homeland of lemon is considered to be Indochina and the Pacific tropical island, from where it spread to many countries with a subtropical climate. The first mentions of this plant appeared in the XII century. Even then, healers used its fruits as a cure for various ailments. To this day, lemon is widely used in folk medicine for its many beneficial properties.

Lemon fruits contain many vitamins and nutrients. 100 g of fresh product accounts for:

– vitamin C – 40-70 mg; – vitamin B1 – 0,04 mg; – vitamin B2 – 0,02 mg; – vitamin B5 – 0,2 mg; – vitamin B6 – 0,06 mg; – folic acid – 9 mg; – vitamin PP – 0,1 mg; – carotene – 0,01 mg; – potassium – 163 mg; – calcium – 40 mg; – magnesium – 12 mg; – sodium – 11 mg; – phosphorus – 22 mg; – iron – 600-1200 mcg; – iodine, copper, manganese, selenium and other substances.

This unique composition determines the beneficial properties of lemon. So, due to the high content of vitamin C and carotene, the “progenitor” of vitamin A, it is an excellent immunomodulator, stimulating protective functions and helping the body to cope with viral infections and colds.

B vitamins have a beneficial effect on the activity of the nervous system, participate in hematopoiesis and the production of antibodies, improve the condition of the skin and hair. Vitamin PP strengthens blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and is used to prevent heart attacks and strokes.

Organic potassium is good for the cardiovascular system and also has beneficial effects on the kidneys. Calcium strengthens the musculoskeletal system. Also, lemon fruits are recommended for use in atherosclerosis, urolithiasis, metabolic disorders, hemorrhoids, gastritis with low acidity and other ailments.

In the Middle Ages, lemon was believed to protect against the plague, and in the east it was used to heal wounds and treat lung diseases, as well as an antidote to snake and scorpion bites.

In addition, the organic acids in lemon contribute to weight loss by breaking down fats and dulling hunger.

The following recipe helps to cope with infectious diseases: the lemon should be kept in boiling water for a minute, then chopped together with the peel using a blender, mixed with two tablespoons of honey and 100 g of butter. Eat several times a day in the form of a sandwich with black bread.

You can get rid of a cough if the crushed fruit is mixed with two tablespoons of honey and 50 ml of water. The resulting mixture must be cooked over low heat until a viscous mass is obtained. Take a tablespoon every 3 hours.

The usual black tea with a slice of lemon helps not only quench your thirst, but also cope with colds and respiratory diseases. In the West, such a drink is often called “tea in Russian”

In the fight against excess weight, a glass of hot water drunk on an empty stomach with the juice of one “golden fruit” helps. For inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa, rinsing with whole citrus juice diluted in a glass of water helps.

Lemon juice mixed with honey in a 1: 2 ratio is used as a local remedy in the fight against freckles, acne and warts, as well as for the early healing of bruises and bruises, softening calluses. You can remove stones from the bladder by drinking a quarter glass of fresh juice three times a day.

It should be remembered that citrus fruits are contraindicated for people suffering from chronic enterocolitis and pancreatitis, gastritis with high acidity, stomach and duodenal ulcers.
