Lefkadia wine: history, wine collection

The Lefkadia Valley, famous for its environmentally friendly products and picturesque nature, is located in the foothills of the Caucasus Range, in the vast expanses of the Krasnodar Territory.

The favorable location and climate favorable for the development of agriculture became decisive in the search for a territory for the cultivation of vines, organized by Russian enthusiast Mikhail Nikolaev.

History of the enterprise and features of production

The company “Lefkadia” was founded in 2004 and today is successfully engaged in the production of still and sparkling wines, as well as the production of natural dairy products, honey, the cultivation of cereals, fruits and vegetables.

Local lands are famous not only for amazing landscapes, but also for high yields.

It’s all about a comfortable temperate continental climate, fertile, well-drained soils, diurnal temperature fluctuations and a large number of sunny days.

Such natural features are ideal for growing grapes.

The first vine seedlings were brought to the valley in 2005.

Winemaking has been practiced in these parts before, but during the Prohibition period, all vineyards were cut down, so they had to start from scratch.

The best European and several Russian varieties were selected for cultivation. Among them: Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and others.

They grow fruits on the southern slopes of the hills in the foothills of the North Caucasus.

In 2009, the first harvest was harvested and the production of their own wines was launched.

Much attention is paid to the quality of products at the enterprise.

It is determined by the following factors:

  1. Much of the cultivation and harvesting work in the valley is done by hand, including the sorting process.

  2. The characteristics of soils and drinks are strictly controlled: for this purpose, an own laboratory was created on the territory of the farm.

  3. French experts advise local winemakers.

  4. To move the grape must, a gravitational technique based on the action of gravity is used, without the use of mechanical pumping.

  5. Wines are aged in oak barrels, which were made in France from Russian raw materials.

These features allow local drinks to receive the highest marks at international competitions and gain recognition not only in Russia, but also in the international market.
