Cooking classic cabbage rolls requires a lot of time and effort, as well as special skill, because it is not easy to properly wrap the filling in a cabbage leaf. However, fortunately, there is a simpler recipe that is available even for people who want to spend a minimum of time and effort on cooking. The most laborious procedures for making stuffed cabbage rolls are excluded from it, but in the end, you still get a very tasty dish, which is called lazy cabbage rolls.

Preparing ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls

To make a recipe for lazy cabbage rolls, you will need the following foods:

– 500 g minced meat; – 400 g of white cabbage; – 150 g long grain rice; – 2 tbsp. sour cream or 0,5 cups of milk; – 1 onion; – 1 carrot; – 2 tbsp. tomato paste; – 1 egg; – dried marjoram, dill, parsley; – vegetable oil; – salt and pepper to taste; – Bay leaf.

Chop the onion into small pieces, peel and grate the carrots. Place vegetables in a skillet in preheated oil and sauté over low heat, stirring constantly, until the onions are golden brown.

If you took too large carrots and onions, do not be upset: some can be added to the sauce in which lazy cabbage rolls will be stewed

Chop the cabbage finely, immediately removing all too large and coarse pieces. Then boil water in a saucepan, put the cabbage there, cover and leave for 10-15 minutes. Then use a colander to drain off the water.

Transfer the minced meat to a deep bowl and add rice, fried carrots with onions, cabbage, egg, salt, pepper and seasonings to it. Then mix the minced meat thoroughly, trying to make the mass homogeneous.

How to make lazy cabbage rolls

Divide the minced meat into approximately equal pieces and mold a ball from each of them. To make it easier for you to do this, collect 1 tablespoon from a bowl. minced meat with a slide.

Lazy cabbage rolls can be given not only a round, but also an oblong shape. It all depends on how it is more convenient for you to sculpt them.

Grease a frying pan with vegetable oil and put the cabbage rolls you stuck into it, and fry them a little on both sides. Please note: the pan should be deep enough so that you can stew the dish later in it without putting the lazy cabbage rolls into the pan.

Take another bowl and mix the tomato paste with sour cream or milk in it, and then add a little water to make the sauce thinner. Pour the liquid into a skillet with cabbage rolls, add pepper, salt and bay leaf to the gravy, and then put on low heat. It is advisable for the sauce to cover the cabbage rolls by about half.

The dish should be stewed for 20-25 minutes, and during this time it is necessary to pour the minced meat with the sauce in which it is cooked several times on top. Serve lazy cabbage rolls hot, along with gravy, offering boiled potatoes, pasta or buckwheat porridge as a side dish.
