- Composite knife. The length of the knife should not exceed 50 cm. If it is made in the shape of a trapezoid, then the grass will not be able to wrap around the base. In this case, only the extreme 5 cm of the canvas are subject to sharpening. You can also use a solid disk, which has advantages over knives: when it hits a stone, it does not deform.
Step by step creation of a lawn mower from a washing machine
To prepare the base, it is advisable to use the chassis from a stroller or trolley. Then it is enough to fix the canvas on them. But if there is no chassis, the corners will be used, which will turn into a frame with the help of welding. Frame dimensions 2,5 x 2,5 cm.
Now do this:
- Four racks for wheels are welded to the fabricated frame.
- In addition to the base, a pipe or profile is attached, curved in the shape of the letter “P”.
- A hole is being prepared for installing the engine. To do this, a hole is cut in the base into which the motor is lowered with the shaft down.
- A grille is installed in front of the frame. It will prevent the knife from slipping off the shaft, and will also allow you to mow the lawn smoothly.
- A homemade knife is mounted on the motor shaft.
- A handle is attached to the base. A switch is mounted on the handle for convenience.
- A cable is connected to the engine, its other end with a plug is connected to the network.
Observe security measures. If you used profile pipes as a handle, be sure to cover them with rubber pads to avoid electric shock.
