Lawn care in spring: green lawn. Video
After winter, your lawn has ceased to be beautiful, well-groomed and no longer pleases your eyes? Do not get upset ahead of time, because if you wish, you can return the lawn to its original appearance. And careful lawn care in spring will delight you all summer.
Often in the spring, after the snow melts, the owner of the garden plot is saddened to see an unsightly picture: the lawn, in which so much work has been invested, is ruined! Either the weeds have overpowered, or the surface has become uneven and bald spots have appeared in some places … In such cases, an inexperienced gardener can re-plow the area and sow it. But this remedy should only be used in extreme cases, if the lawn is very badly damaged or does not grow at all after winter. As a rule, restoration of individual damaged areas can be dispensed with.
You will need: – herbicides; – preparations containing ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate; – ash; – fertile land.
How to get rid of weeds and moss on your lawn
If weeds appear, treat the lawn with herbicides. They act selectively on most weeds (broadleaf) without harming lawn grasses. Small and creeping weeds you will have to weed out by hand. After weeding, compact the sod well.
However, if there are so many weeds that they literally clog the lawn grass, it is necessary to plow the area and sow the lawn again.
If areas overgrown with moss appear on the lawn, treat them with preparations containing ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate. Sprinkling ash on the lawn also helps a lot.
How to care for a damaged lawn
If only certain areas of the lawn require restoration, proceed as follows. Cut all lawn grass low. On the affected areas, freed from the grass, carefully loosen the soil to a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters. Then level and compact the surface, evenly cover it with grass seeds.
Try to use the same seeds as when laying the lawn, then the places of “repair” will stand out little against the general background
After that, gently loosen the surface layer of soil to a depth of no more than 1,5 cm and pour from a watering can.
If the entire surface of the lawn requires restoration, cut the grass low and remove it. Then use a rake to gently loosen the lawn to a depth of no more than 1,5 cm. Mix lawn grass seeds with fertile soil in a 1: 2 weight ratio. Spread this mixture evenly over the surface of the lawn. Then gently water the entire lawn with a watering can.
The restoration of the lawn, as well as the subsequent care of the lawn grass will require a lot of time and effort from you, but all this will more than pay off with the results obtained. After all, a beautiful, neat lawn will give you the most real aesthetic pleasure.
