They have a negative impact on the environment. They contain phosphates, petroleum derivatives and irritating enzymes. Fortunately, more and more alternatives are emerging. They are ecological, natural and safe for our health washing agents.
Sapindus Mukorossi – washing nuts
That mysterious sounding name is washing nuts. They are 100% natural and have been used in India and Nepal for centuries. Additionally, they are available at attractive prices and can be used universally. Soap nuts can be used to wash dishes, windows, floors and even a car. They are even suitable for bathing. Nuts do not leave any smell on clothes, do not stain or damage clothes. They can be used even at high temperatures. Their ingredient is saponin. It is found in nutshells. It has degreasing properties which turn into a soapy substance when in contact with water. In order to use them, put 3-4 shells in the bag and put them in the washing machine drum among the clothes.
Mineral eco washing balls
Ecozone washing balls are a very economical and ecological solution at the same time. They are enough for up to 1000 washes. Just like nuts, they do not leave any smell on clothes. They consist of naturally occurring minerals. They are the perfect solution for allergy sufferers. It is located in plastic-rubber balls mineral granuleswhich we put among the clothes in the washing machine drum. The balls gradually release mineral particles. An additional advantage is the softening of fabrics. Rinse aid becomes redundant. They work best in low temperatures. Children’s skin is delicate and requires gentle treatment. Special products have been created that do not pollute the environment, are ecological and adapted to the skin of the youngest. There are additives with a bactericidal effect, and additionally they are hypoallergenic. There are also additives on the market that remove mites from clothes, which work well for allergy sufferers.
How to use ecological laundry detergents?
Before using such an agent for the first time, clean the washing machine thoroughly to remove the remains of previously used detergents. For this purpose, you can use household cleaning products such as vinegar. Select the program with the highest temperature possible in order to thoroughly remove limescale and deposits. In the case of hard water, we can add approx. 2 tablespoons of baking soda or soda ash to each wash. Delicate fabrics such as wool and silk are best washed with detergents designed for this purpose.
Tough dirt – how to wash?
More demanding stains need special treatment. We can use soaking with the addition of sodium percarbonate. It may turn out to be effective stain removing soap. Stained clothes can also be hung up to dry in the sun, which can handle them effectively.
Homemade washing powder
It is very easy to make a natural powder at home. The necessary products for this process will be borax, baking soda, soda ash, sodium percarbonate and soap flakes. We measure out one scoop of each ingredient, we use percarbonate only for washing white fabrics. The product prepared in this way can be stored in an airtight container for a month.
If we care about the smell of washed clothes, we can add natural oils to the last rinse.
