Laticort is a dermatological medicine (steroid medicine) in the form of an ointment, cream or lotion to be applied to the skin. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-swelling and anti-itching properties. Laticort is used to treat inflammation of the skin.

The composition of the drug Laticort

The active substance in Laticort is hydrocortisol butyrate, which has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-swelling and anti-pruritic effects.

When is Laticort used?

Indications for the use of Laticort are acute allergic skin inflammations, psoriasis of the hairy skin, long-term psoriasis, lichen, blemishes, allergic reactions to sunlight, itching of the scrotum and labia or anus, and dermatitis in the area of ​​nasolabial folds caused by the use of other steroids anti-inflammatory drugs.

Dosage of Laticort

Laticort is intended for external use on the skin. The dosage and frequency of using the preparation is determined by the doctor. Typically, a liquid Laticort is used for the first phase of treatment, followed by a Laticort ointment or cream. The preparation should be applied to the affected area of ​​the skin no more than twice a day. Laticort must not be used under an occlusive dressing. It is not recommended to use Laticort for more than two weeks. You can apply the drug to the skin of the face for no more than 7 days. It is recommended to use no more than one package of Laticort within one week.

Contraindications to the use of Laticort

Laticort should not be used in the case of hypersensitivity or allergy to any of the ingredients of the preparation. A viral or fungal skin infection is also a contraindication to the use of this drug. Laticort must not be used in cases where the skin is pre-printed and in people with skin neoplasms. The drug is not recommended for people with acne or rosacea. It is not recommended to use Laticort by patients with narrow-angle glaucoma and cataracts, if they also use the preparation on the eyelids. The use of Laticort should not be combined with therapy with other dermatological drugs and with drugs that affect the immune system. For pregnant or lactating women, Laticort should only be used for a short time and on a small area of ​​the skin. Laticort is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age. In older children, Laticort can be used in small doses once a day.

Possible side effects of Laticort

Using Laticort for too long may cause atrophic dermatitis at the site of rubbing the ointment. During treatment with Laticort, steroid acne, purpura, burning, redness or excessive dryness of the skin at the application site may occur. These symptoms should be consulted with a physician who may recommend discontinuation of the drug and prescribe another preparation.

Precautions when using Laticort

Before using Laticort, read the package leaflet carefully. You should tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, including those over the counter. Before using Laticort, check the expiry date on the packaging – do not use the drug after the expiry date. Laticort should be stored in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children.
