Lassari paste – what is this preparation and when it is used

Lassari paste is a medicine in the form of zinc paste (zinc oxide) with salicylic acid. It is used to treat small skin lesions, juvenile acne and skin abrasions. The preparation was developed by a German dermatologist, Oskar Lassar – the name of the drug comes from his surname.

What is the composition and properties of Lassari paste?

The Lassari paste contains zinc oxide and salicylic acid. These are substances with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Lassari paste also has an astringent and drying effect. Salicylic acid has a keratolytic effect, i.e. it makes the dead epidermis cells disappear faster. It also unblocks the pores of the skin, allowing sebum (sebum) to rise to the surface, which cleans the skin and prevents inflammation. Lassari paste is a white mass with a gray shade and a firm consistency. The excipients in the Lassari paste are white petroleum jelly and wheat starch.

When is Lassari paste used?

Lassari paste is a preparation used in the case of small skin lesions, in order to accelerate the healing of abrasions and in the case of juvenile acne. The ingredients of the drug have a drying, astringent effect and prevent bacterial infections and inflammation. This preparation also has disinfecting properties and makes the dead skin cells disappear faster. Regularly used Lassari toothpaste also helps to unblock pores.

How to use Lassari paste?

Lassari paste is applied to the affected skin. In the case of adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, Lassari paste is applied in a thin layer to the affected area. The preparation should be applied with sterile gauze or thoroughly washed hands before use. Lassari paste should be applied 1-2 times a day. After applying the preparation, wash your hands thoroughly. The consistency of Lassari paste means that it can stain clothes and bedding and it is quite difficult to wash off, so you need to wash your hands well after using it and make sure that the places smeared with it do not come into direct contact with bedding or clothing. In the case of children younger than 12 years of age, Lassari paste can be used only after consulting a doctor. In the case of adolescent acne with purulent skin lesions, it is good to apply ichthyol ointment to the affected area before using Lassari paste – it will accelerate the healing process. Then, Lassari paste is applied, which dries the lesion and makes the sick epidermis atrophy, and in its place a new – healthy one is formed.

Contraindications to the use of Lassari toothpaste

Lassari pastes should not be used by people who are allergic to salicylic acid or zinc oxide or any of the excipients contained in the preparation.
