Although dozens of publications have been published on the subject of laser vision correction, there is nothing more credible than the opinions of people who have experienced firsthand what improving the quality of vision is. They are posted by both popular people and ordinary people who dreamed of saying goodbye to glasses once and for all. Was it worth it?

– I corrected my eyesight because I was tired of reading glasses. With a very positive attitude to this possibility, I passed the qualification positively and then the treatment. I have to admit that the first day I was really offended by the light, but the next day was incomparably better. (…) The greatest joy – that I no longer have to remember to take out my glasses to read the timetable, time on the phone or a book. – Dorota wrote.

What does laser vision correction give you?

Patients admit that the most common reason for laser vision correction is to get rid of glasses and improve their quality of life.

– There are many opinions everywhere, but hardly anyone writes them in great detail. I will start from the beginning: my vision defect has been bothering me for a long time and I don’t like wearing glasses. I associated the slogan “laser correction” with celebrities and people who perform it, because they must because of their profession. It was not a topic for an ordinary Kowalski. Out of sheer curiosity, I searched the Internet for information on this subject. The prices of the treatments turned out to be bearable and ceased to be associated with a loan for the value of a mid-range car. (…) I have made an appointment. After a few different tests and countless drops, it turned out that I could undergo the procedure. And here I started to get nervous, but when you said “a” you have to say “b” and I made an appointment a week later. I couldn’t sleep the day before due to my nerves. At 15 p.m. I showed up for surgery. The nurse administered the syrup, took a break and went to the room. The machines hummed and I was nervous, the nurse’s handshake helped me to calm down. The procedure was short, it was not painful, it was more pressure than pain. It was not the most pleasant one, but what is not done to see better! After the surgery, I had a moment of rest and I was able to go home. Unfortunately, not alone, but the support was useful. The night was calm, although my eyes stung a little, which I was informed about by the doctor. In fact, 3 days later it was perfect, later I had fluctuations in focus, but after a week my eyes healed completely and after about three I forgot that I had had the surgery. Do not believe popular opinion, laser correction is for anyone who wants to do it, you don’t have to be a celebrity! – 29-year-old Karol argues on one of the forums.

Concerns about laser vision correction

Patients admit that what they fear most is the course of the procedure itself. What frightens them is the separation of the corneal flap and the subsequent work of the laser.

– (…) The procedure itself – not very pleasant, but survivable and endurable 🙂 I was most afraid of the moment of separating the corneal epithelium, but nothing hurts at all, and even a slight discomfort, because everything happens quickly (…) And somehow it does not come to me, I don’t need glasses 🙂 great thing! – writes Marcin.

Dorota adds:

– It hurts the most before – when we read about this procedure and hear from those who have undergone it – that it does not hurt, it hurts later, that the pain is not remembered, etc. Everyone has a different pain threshold. In this case, it is good that we are prepared for it, because we take painkillers in advance, and on the other hand, it is bad – because we are waiting for this pain. I don’t remember about mine anymore.

Another concern of patients is the recovery process time. Many of us are still thinking, the recovery takes many weeks during which we should just lie down and rest. Nothing could be more wrong – it is true that the process of stabilizing the defect lasts 3 months, but a few days after the procedure, the discomfort associated with its performance disappears and the vision of the image improves.

– The very next day I functioned normally. This is definitely a new quality of life, I wish I had decided so late. The technology of the treatment is fantastic – confirms Sara.

– I am extremely pleased, 2 days after the procedure I had the feeling of push pins in my eyes, but then everything subsided. I see better than before with glasses, I really do. I can see the details better, the fabrics in the store. I am a walrus, I bathe, I run. Everything is much more comfortable, because early there was a tragedy with steaming lenses and I couldn’t wear lenses at all. And this is also an improvement in appearance – eyes do not blink, etc. – adds MT on the forum.

FAQ laser vision correction

The most frequently asked questions by patients are those concerning the defect itself. They often wonder whether it is really possible to completely correct their eyesight, and thus get rid of the glasses for good. Patients who share their experiences on forums express themselves:

– I had a visual impairment of +5.0 diopters in both eyes, although in the drop test the camera even showed +6.0. For reading, I used stronger lenses +6.5. I am extremely pleased because now I can see perfectly fine letters up close without glasses, and from a distance I also have no problems and my visual acuity is almost 100%. Recently, I even started embroidering without glasses. I tell everyone that despite my previous concerns, today I would have made such a decision 20 times! It’s worth it! – writes 46-year-old B.

Another patient writes:

– I underwent the procedure 5 years ago, but I had a significant defect -6 and a slight astigmatism. I wore bottoms since I was a child and I must honestly admit that for the first days after the surgery I couldn’t get used to my new look, what’s more, I didn’t like it very much. For a month I felt terrible discomfort, sometimes even pain, my eyes were drying out, but my doctor prescribed me a million drops, which finally helped me. The procedure itself is painless and quick, and despite this discomfort afterwards, it is really worth undergoing the procedure. Only, as someone wrote above, do not save on it (after all, it’s about your health) and choose a professional clinic.

Despite post-treatment ailments, such as burning and watery eyes, a feeling of sand under the eyelids, photophobia or faster eye fatigue, almost all patients agree that if they were to make a decision about the procedure again, they would not hesitate to take it.

– I’ve been wearing glasses since I can remember. The vision defect was getting worse year by year, so my ophthalmologist offered me the option of laser correction a long time ago. The only problem was that I was too young and the flaw was unstable. The day finally came when, as an adult, I was able to undergo laser eye surgery. During the qualification, the doctor informed me about everything and at the beginning of the next week I made an appointment for the procedure. A day later: I can see! Since then, I often get questions – laser vision correction? Is it worth it? Definitely yes! – concludes JR
