The bush is indeterminate, sprawling, its standard height does not exceed 1,5 meters. When leaving, a garter, removal of stepchildren and top dressing with fertilizers are required. No more than 3-4 bushes are planted per square, otherwise the yield will be greatly reduced. Each fruit has a weight of more than a kilogram, up to 6-8 fruits are formed on one brush. Thus, the yield is 18-25 kilograms per square. This is a high figure. You also need to take into account high taste qualities. The fruits are fleshy with a sweet and sour taste and a wonderful aroma. They can be stored for a long time, do not crack.
Hybrid “Alabai”
The early ripe Alabai hybrid grows well both in open and closed ground. Fruit weight 250 grams, sometimes a little higher. The yield for a large-fruited tomato is considered average and reaches 7,5 kilograms per square meter.
The ripening period is 95-100 days, the fruits are red dense, they are well stored and have excellent taste. The bush is determinant, it is best to plant seedlings in the amount of 5-6 bushes per square meter.

We have a fairly well-known mid-season variety of large-fruited tomatoes. It is famous for its excellent taste and weight of a tomato. They reach an average of 700-900 grams, have fleshy flesh and a pinkish tint. The shape of the tomato is heart-shaped, which distinguishes it from many other “heavy” tomatoes.
The bush is determinate, almost does not require pinching, it can reach a height of 1,5 meters. It is best not to plant more than 6 plants per square meter, although the packaging says that you can plant up to nine plants. Ripening period 101-111 days. This indicates that it would be nice to grow “Pudovik” in the open field in the Crimea, in the Krasnodar Territory, in the Stavropol Territory, in the Volga Region and in the Chernozem Region.
American Ribbed
For those gardeners who grow large tomatoes in order to show off to a neighbor, this mid-season variety is ideal. Moreover, it will be possible to collect the seeds and save them for later cultivation. The American Ribbed Tomato is truly beautiful. With excellent taste, it is perfect for salads. The mass of tomatoes reaches 300 grams.
The yield is very high, up to 19 kilograms of fruits of excellent quality are harvested from one square meter. They have an excellent presentation, are stored for a long time and are subject to transportation. In care, it is capricious due to the fact that it requires pinching, garters and fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. Ideal for warm climates. Ripening period 115-125 days. This will not allow growing it in the conditions of Siberia and the Urals.
Altai yellow
The bush of the plant is indeterminate and reaches a height of two meters. Perhaps it will be the care that will become the main problem for the summer resident, but this applies to a huge number of varietal tomatoes with the same excellent qualities as the Altai Yellow. High yield (up to 15 kilograms per square) is achieved solely due to the large mass of fruits, each of which weighs an average of 600 grams.
The ripening period is 110-115 days, while the variety is resistant to late blight, tobacco mosaic virus, alternariosis, bacteriosis. Its purpose is universal, the fruits are very tasty, fragrant, fleshy. Plus lies in the high content of beta-carotene and sugars.
Hybrids are not capable of this. The summer resident will not receive a harvest from them, therefore it is not worth trying, spending a huge amount of strength and energy.
Bull’s Heart
It is unlikely that there is at least one tomato lover who has not heard the name of this variety of large-fruited tomatoes. He has been known for a very long time. It has:
- aroma;
- meatiness;
- beautiful appearance;
- excellent taste qualities.
For this, he is loved not only in Our Country. The Oxheart variety is known all over the world, it is found in several colors: pink, red, yellow, black (pictured below) and even white. The mass of fruits reaches 300-400 grams, the shape is beautiful heart-shaped. The high sugar content comes from the low amount of water in tomatoes.
The bush is indeterminate, fairly tall and sprawling. 3-4 plants are planted per square meter. With a more compact planting, the yield will decrease. The variety of large-fruited tomatoes “Bull’s Heart” has a high yield (up to 27 kilograms per square meter).
Orange
Among the large-fruited tomatoes for open ground, there are many interesting and beautiful ones. Variety “Orange” is one of them. It is represented by bright yellow large fruits weighing from 200 to 400 grams. Tomatoes are very tasty and sweet. The skin is thin, so when you gain weight, they crack a little. The maturation period does not exceed 110 days.
The variety is grown in 1 or 2 stems, requires obligatory pinching. All this is necessary for maximum yield. The height of the bush is one and a half meters. It can be grown in greenhouses, although the main purpose is open ground.

Grandma’s Secret
Describing large varieties of tomatoes for open ground, it is impossible not to mention the variety “Grandma’s Secret” known to many gardeners. The average weight of its fruits is 350 grams, but there are also real giants. The variety is mid-season, 110-120 days pass before ripening.
The bush is indeterminate, reaches 170 centimeters. Productivity is high, up to 17 kilograms per square meter. The taste of the fruit is excellent, the destination is salad. Firm tomatoes keep well and have a beautiful appearance. It is also recommended to grow up to four bushes per square meter.
King of Kings
The mid-late variety of large-fruited tomatoes “King of Kings” is resistant to late blight. As a rule, this disease in itself is not scary only for early ripening varieties. Due to the short period they do not have time to get sick with it. The mass of fruits of this interesting tomato variety is from 500 to 1000 grams. The bush is quite tall (up to two meters), bears fruit for a long time and abundantly. Up to 5 kilograms of excellent quality tomatoes are harvested from one bush.
Excellent taste and versatility in use made the variety “King of Kings” one of the most popular. Of course, outdoor cultivation is only appropriate for a long warm period in the region.
Honey saved
Another very tasty tomato with an interesting name and bright yellow flesh. Due to the fact that the skin is dense, the tomato does not crack when ripe. The fruits are very large, each reaches 600 grams, grows well both in the greenhouse and in the open field. If you want to get such a tomato in Siberia, then you can do it. The ripening period is no more than 125 days.
Care is standard, the land must be well fertilized, fertilizing, regardless of the method of cultivation, is necessary not once, but at least three times per season.
Alsou
Variety “Alsu” once again proves that large tomatoes are certainly tasty. Red heart-shaped fruits weigh up to 600 grams. The average weight is just over 300 grams. The yield is not very high for such indicators and is 7 kilograms per square meter.
The bush is low, almost does not require pinching, but the shoots will have to be tied up, otherwise they will break off under the weight of the fruit. The ripening period is only 90-100 days, which makes it possible to grow this variety of large-fruited tomatoes in open ground in most regions of Our Country.
Three Fat Men
Mid-season variety for outdoor cultivation. It is also good for central Our Country, since it tends to easily endure temperature fluctuations. This does not affect either growth or the formation of ovaries. The bush reaches one and a half meters, semi-determinant, does not grow much, however, it is recommended to plant no more than four seedling bushes per square meter.
The ripening rate is low, the variety belongs to mid-season, from the moment the first shoots appear to ripening, 115-125 days pass. Tomato disease resistance is a plus.
The fruits are very large, their weight reaches 800 grams, due to which the yield is 3-4 kilograms per bush. It keeps well, the flesh is fleshy, the fruit itself is very tasty.
giant lemon
Beautiful mid-season tomato. As for the weight of the fruits, they are very large, almost a kilogram. The color of the pulp is bright yellow. Variety “Giant Lemon” does not have a high yield. This is the same case that we described earlier: large tomato varieties do not always indicate high yields. The gardener will be able to collect about 6 kilograms per square meter of plantings, since, as a rule, one or three fruits are formed on the brush.
The bush is tall, up to 2,5 meters, requires careful care and pinching. Experienced summer residents say that this tomato has a lemon flavor with a characteristic sourness. It can be used in any way.
Hybrid “Big Beef”
Mid-early hybrid ideal for open ground. It differs in that, with an indeterminate type of growth, it has a small bush height, up to 1 meter. The yield is 8 kilograms per square meter. The fruits are dense red, they are well stored and have good taste. The average weight of one tomato is approximately 250 grams.
The plant is sprawling, planted 4 bushes of seedlings per square meter, otherwise it greatly affects the yield. The ripening period is only 70 days, so the hybrid can be grown in most regions of Our Country without fear. Additional resistance to cladospirosis and TMV has a positive effect on the sales of this tomato hybrid.
