Lakcid is a probiotic that can be purchased from pharmacies. Lakcid contains live lactobacilli, i.e. Lactobacillus rhamnosus bacteria. They are resistant to stomach and bile acid, which allows them to function in the digestive tract. Importantly, Lakcid can also be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women. Remember that the probiotic should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees C.
Lakcid – composition
The composition of Lakcid contains at least 2 billion CFU of Lactobacillus rhamnosus, including:
- 40 percent Lactobacillus rhamnosus Pen strain;
- 40 percent Lactobacillus rhamnosus E / N strain;
- 20 percent Lactobacillus rhamnosus Oxy strain.

Lakcid – action
Lakcid contains live cultures of Lactobacillus rhamnosus bacteria, which are part of the normal bacterial microflora of the gastrointestinal tract. The condition of the bacterial flora can be disturbed by the use of antibiotics, inadequate diet, or frequent travel associated with changing environmental conditions. Lakcid probiotic when taken in the recommended amounts, it has a very beneficial effect on the condition of the gastrointestinal tract, as it supports the restoration of balance and helps to maintain the correct composition of the intestinal microflora.
In addition, it limits the multiplication of microorganisms harmful to the human body. Lakcid also protects the intestinal epithelium from harmful microbes responsible for diarrhea. Therefore, it should be remembered that by taking Lakcid during diarrhea, we will not only alleviate its course, but also reduce the risk of its occurrence.
Lakcid – indications
The indication for the use of the Lakcid probiotic is the restoration of the proper intestinal bacterial flora. Therefore, the drug is recommended especially:

- patients who struggle with post-antibiotic enteritis, with particular emphasis on the treatment of supportive pseudomembranous colitis;

It should be remembered that even if there are indications for the administration of a particular drug, it is not always possible. In the case of the Lakcid probiotic, the main contraindication is hypersensitivity, i.e. allergy to cow’s milk protein.

Lakcid – dosage
Lakcid is a probiotic drug intended for oral use. Take the drug up to 3-4 times a day. Lakcid can be used regardless of the time of eating. It should only be remembered that the manufacturer does not recommend drinking alcohol when using the probiotic. A method of preparing:
- Lakcid ampoules – from one ampoule a solution is prepared with a small amount of boiled water or milk at room temperature. The suspension should be thoroughly mixed before consumption and consumed immediately after preparation;
- Lakcid with a reusable pipette – immediately before use, the ampoule should be opened by pressing the neck of the ampoule downwards (pressure point marked with a dot). Using a pipette, take the appropriate amount of boiled water or milk at room temperature. The liquid should be gently introduced into the ampoule using a pipette, mixed thoroughly and then poured onto a teaspoon;
- Lakcid in a package with a vial – immediately before using the probiotic, remove the cap of the vial and remove the rubber stopper. To the inside of the vial, add a little boiled water or milk at room temperature, mix thoroughly, and then pour its contents onto a teaspoon;
- Lakcid in sachets – just before administering Lakcid, tear open the Lakcid sachet at the marked place. Its contents should be poured into a glass filled with boiled water or milk at room temperature up to 1/8 of the capacity, thoroughly mixed and drunk immediately after preparation.

Lakcid – precautions
Patients should be aware that certain illnesses and other health conditions may make the use of Lakcid impossible or may require dosage adjustment. In some cases it may be necessary to undergo regular check-ups.
Lakcid contains bacterial strains resistant to many antibiotics, so they can be used simultaneously with them. They will not lose their protective properties. Moreover, Lakcid has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines and devices.
