Lactose intolerance: who is harmed by dairy products
Wday.ru found out who can eat dairy products and how much, and who needs to refuse and how to replace them in the diet.
Milk, cottage cheese, kefir, yogurt – all these products are considered correct and healthy and should be on the menu every day. But for some people, dairy products are not beneficial, but, on the contrary, cause abdominal discomfort, reduce immunity, and can even provoke extra pounds and allergies.
“Patients often ask if it is okay to eat cottage cheese in the evening, why there is swelling from dairy products, which ones are better absorbed. To dispel all questions regarding the “milk”, you need to pass a molecular genetic test for lactase deficiency. And the sooner this analysis is done, the better. “
The fact is that there are three variants of the genotype, which determine the body’s tolerance to lactose. The cost of a test in private laboratories (Moscow) is on average 1200-1400 rubles. The test result is unchanged throughout life, as it is encoded in the DNA. You cannot eat, kiss or smoke an hour before the test. What result can you expect?
If the test shows SS genotype, this is primary lactase deficiency. These people do not have the enzyme lactase, which is responsible for breaking down lactose, the main substance found in milk and dairy products. People with this genotype, when consuming dairy products, may be disturbed by gastrointestinal diseases, allergies, edema, skin diseases, problems with immunity and obesity, difficult to correct, appear. Even so, there is a solution. It is necessary to completely exclude dairy and sour products for three weeks. During this time, the intestinal microflora will have time to renew itself. Then you can gradually and in small quantities introduce fermented milk products into the diet. The renewed microflora will cope with the oxidation of lactose, and the discomfort will pass.
Second TC genotype – This is a secondary lactase deficiency. In such people, the heterozygous gene encoding the enzyme lactase loses activity, so the production of the enzyme is reduced. With this result, it is necessary to exclude highly lactose foods – whole milk. You can eat cottage cheese, cheese, yogurt.
The third TT genotype Is good lactose tolerance. People with this result can eat dairy products at any time. As practice shows, among adult patients, the third TT genotype is found only in 10–20% of cases.
