Labioplasty

Many women face such a problem as an unaesthetic appearance of the labia. But, fortunately, today this problem is solved easily. In medical practice, several types of plastic surgery are used to help a woman get rid of such problems.

The most common operation is labioplasty. With this procedure, you can correct the appearance of the small and large labia.

With the help of plastic surgery, you can significantly improve the appearance of the genital organs and correct various defects resulting from the birth process or other injuries.

Most often, the indications for such a plastic surgery are aesthetic indications that cause unpleasant discomfort in a woman.

When is labioplasty indicated?

As a rule, women turn to specialists in order to change and improve the aesthetic appearance of their labia. Basically, they are not satisfied with the size (small or, conversely, large). Also, the reason for the plastic procedure may be elongated or unequal-sized labia. Sometimes adult women turn to specialists for help, whose labia have become flabby and saggy over the years.

Contraindications for labioplasty

Although this procedure is considered the most effective and common, it has a number of contraindications.

Such a surgical operation is contraindicated in patients with sexually transmitted diseases and pathological processes in the female genital organs, accompanied by inflammatory processes, poor blood clotting, oncological pathologies, mental disorders.

Also, surgery is prohibited for patients under the age of 18 and women who have not given birth.

How to Prepare for a Labiaplasty

The plastic procedure itself is carried out under anesthesia or spinal anesthesia. It all depends on the individual characteristics of the female body. Before prescribing labioplasty, a woman must pass tests by which specialists can determine the further course of the operation.

As a rule, patients are prescribed:

  • general blood analysis;
  • general urine analysis;
  • analysis for viral infection;
  • vaginal smear;
  • electrocardiogram;
  • testing for sexually transmitted infections.

If during the period of diagnostic measures the specialists have any doubts, then additional tests are prescribed.

Before the operation, it is necessary to familiarize the doctor with all the medicines that you have taken recently. After all, many of them can significantly affect the process of normal blood clotting. 10 days before the operation, doctors prohibit taking any medications and hormonal preparations. This also applies to oral contraceptives.

5 days before labioplasty, you should completely exclude the use of alcoholic beverages and smoking. If this is not done, then after the operation, the tissue of the labia will heal longer and harder.

You need to shave immediately before the operation. Also, doctors do not recommend having sex 48 hours before plastic surgery.

It is very important to choose the date of the operation. The menstrual cycle can negatively affect the healing process. It is better if it starts no earlier than 9 days after the operation.

What are the types of labioplasty

This procedure is due to various reasons. Some women want to increase the labia, some, on the contrary, reduce them, and there are women who want to correct the asymmetry. This depends on the type of operation. There are three main types of operation. Let’s look at them one by one

Reduction of the labia

This surgical procedure is indicated as a result of congenital, age-related or post-traumatic disorders. Depending on what feature of the cosmetic defect, doctors can perform a linear or V-shaped resection of a fragment of the skin and the inner lining of the labia. If the labia are large enough, the doctor may prescribe liposuction.

The operation itself is performed with standard surgical instruments or a laser. Laser restoration differs from other methods in a large number of advantages. For example, after surgery, the risk of infection in the surgical wound is equal to zero, and the tissues are slightly injured. Also, there is no heavy bleeding during the operation, and the recovery period takes very little time.

Enlargement of the labia

To enlarge the labia, specialists perform lipofilling or introduce fillers into the tissue of the labia, which form a volume inside the tissue. During this procedure, doctors use the patient’s adipose tissue, since there is no immune response.

In addition, they still penetrate well and spread through the histological structure of the labia.

Rejuvenation and elimination of defects

If a woman needs to rejuvenate her labia, then doctors carry out the above procedures, and possibly combine them. If there is evidence, then the genitals are corrected by increasing or decreasing their volume. The same technique is prescribed for congenital or post-traumatic asymmetric phenomena.

If a woman has a cicatricial deformity caused by childbirth, then specialists can additionally perform a resection of the deformed skin and internal membranes. Also, according to serious indications, doctors narrow or, conversely, expand the walls of the vagina and its vestibule.

What complications may arise

The operation itself is quite easy, but sometimes complications can occur. After surgery, a woman may develop hematomas and postoperative scars (an exception is laser labioplasty). After 48 hours, you can notice bloody discharge or an inflammatory process. Wounds can take a long time to heal depending on the individual. If a woman plans to give birth after the operation, then postoperative scars may disperse.

Very often, the result of the operation is not particularly pleasing to patients, therefore, in order to prevent serious complications and negative consequences, it is necessary to approach this issue responsibly. To do this, you need to choose a good specialist and clinic.
