La Fee Hypno

The shining emerald eye embossed on the bottle of La Fee Hypno seems to be really trying to hypnotize the unwary lover of this drink. Of course, the days when, due to the huge concentration of thujone, absinthe caused hallucinations or drove you crazy, are long gone. “Fairy Hypno” contains only 15 mg of thujone per liter: too little to cause harm to health, but quite enough to improve mood and awaken fantasy.

La Fee Hypno is a traditional Czech macerated absinthe. Its main difference from the Swiss one is that after infusion, the drink is not subjected to final distillation, but is filtered. Thanks to this, chlorophyll is preserved in it, which is stabilized so that it does not decompose.

Fortress of absinthe “Fairy Hypno” – 70%. The drink has a rich emerald green color and wormwood aroma. The taste is sharp, the bitterness of wormwood is effectively complemented by spicy notes of marjoram and dill.

Historical reference. Pavel Varga, CEO and one of the founders of the Czech company L’or Special Drinks, believes that absinthe is a drink with a complex character. Therefore, it will bring pleasure only to those who drink it in compliance with all the rules.

You can see what a real “absinthe ceremony” is like and take part in it at Absintery, an absinthe bar-museum owned by L’or Special Drinks, which opened in Prague in 2010. Here are interesting exhibits collected by Pan Varga during his travels around Europe: original spoons for sugar, table fountains for crushed ice and water. Also in “Absintery” you can taste and purchase the company’s products – about fifteen varieties of absinthe. They are produced at the L’or Special Drinks plant in the vicinity of the city of Pradlo.

In 1994, when Pavel Varga and his partner Jiří Černý were about to start their own spirits business, they firmly decided that they would produce only high-quality spirits. The merchants have implemented a strict quality control system at their enterprise.

La Fee Hypno

In the manufacture of absinthes, carefully selected best raw materials are used: wheat alcohol and herbs collected in ecologically clean areas. Almost all operations are performed by hand, just like 150 years ago. For distillation, copper distillation cubes – alambiks are used.

The company’s products are so popular in the Czech Republic and abroad that in 2014 L’or Special Drinks was forced to expand production and open a second distillery in the town of Dolni Bousov.
