Kvass is an ancient Slavic drink, in which, due to the fermentation process, approximately 1,2% ethyl alcohol is formed. This drink with a sour taste is especially relevant in the summer season, as it perfectly quenches thirst.

There are two main types of kvass: fruit and bread. The first is made on the basis of juice or fruit drink by fermentation. Bread kvass is made from rye flour, sugar, malt, yeast, leavened bread, water and lactic acid bacteria. The use of these drinks for the treatment of a different spectrum of diseases is due to their chemical composition.

Rye is rich in nutrients such as phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, manganese and cobalt

There is also vegetable kvass, which is actively used in folk medicine, it is very tasty and healthy. As a rule, it is made from red beets. This drink helps to remove kidney stones, cleanse the liver and reduce weight, and prevent vascular blockage.

The kvass contains a huge amount of valuable enzymes, vitamins B1, PP, carotene, riboflavin and amino acids. This drink helps to normalize metabolism, improve the functioning of the digestive and cardiovascular systems, strengthen immunity and improve overall well-being. In addition, kvass is a fairly nutritious drink that restores strength and relieves fatigue.

Of course, the benefits of drinking kvass will be maximum if the drink is natural. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to buy such a product in stores. Therefore, it is better to cook kvass yourself, then it will have medicinal properties. Remember that this drink has a shelf life of no more than two days in the refrigerator.

If this condition is violated, kvass will harm health.

Danger constantly lies in wait for the admirers of this drink in the summer season. The thing is that draft kvass is often not fresh, or rather, in the heat, its shelf life is reduced several times, because otherwise pathogenic bacteria may begin to develop in the drink.

When purchasing kvass, be sure to pay attention to its shade. Real kvass should be slightly cloudy with sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Also, pay attention to its composition. If it contains flavors, colors, stabilizers and sugar substitutes, do not expect any benefits from this drink.

Contraindications to the use of kvass

The use of kvass is contraindicated for people suffering from urolithiasis, high acidity of gastric juice, cirrhosis of the liver, cystitis and gout. In addition, sometimes, if the product is of poor quality, it can lead to weight gain. This is due to the fact that unnatural kvass contains a large amount of sugar and yeast.
