Kutuzov (“Kutuzov”)

A four-star Russian drink made from spirits that are identical in characteristics to French ones, although they are made from Krasnodar grapes, is produced in Moscow. On the shelves of stores you can find “Kutuzov” from old stocks – the drink of the same name with a 25-year exposure was produced earlier in Koktebel, but now production in the Crimea has been suspended. And the cognac brand belongs to JSC “Moscow Inter-Republican Winery”.

The design design makes the cognac easily recognizable: a bottle in the shape of a hussar shako according to the sketches of specialists from the Moscow Historical Museum, a copy of the commander’s signature on the cap, and medals and orders from the Napoleonic Wars on the collarettes.

The brand line is narrow – only 2 drinks, a four-year-old and a six-year-old.

About the manufacturer

OJSC MMVZ is one of the largest Russian wineries, built by decision of the Council of Ministers in 1969. The first bottle of alcohol rolled off the assembly line in November 1970, and by the beginning of 1971 the company had produced 45 deciliters of twelve wines.

The plant is located on ten hectares of land on the outskirts of Moscow. Utility rooms and production workshops occupy 10 square meters of area. The enterprise has original storage facilities: there are seven of them – according to the number of former Soviet republics, which were famous for their vineyards and wine-making traditions. Wine materials from Azerbaijan. Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine were strictly sorted.

Before the collapse of the USSR, the plant produced 200 brands of alcoholic products with a volume of 170 million bottles of wine and brandy, which were exported to the UK, Japan, and Austria. And in the 90s, the plant became a joint-stock company and continued to produce products at the same facilities. But the volumes dropped sharply, as did the wine materials – the seceded republics left the grapes for the domestic market.

Now the open joint-stock company “MMVZ” is the main platform of the large Russian holding Trading House “Inter-Republican Winery”. The holding was established in 2005, in addition to MMVZ OJSC, it included the Kornet OJSC champagne wine factory, the Kuban LLC Milstrim-Black Sea Wines, the Moldovan Calarasi Divin and the Bulgarian Vinprom Rousse. As well as its own distribution company that sells alcoholic beverages in the Russian Federation, in Europe, in the CIS countries and Southeast Asia.
