Kurpatov Andrei Vladimirovich was born on September 11, 1974 in Leningrad, in a family of military doctors. In 1989 he entered the Nakhimov Naval School. In 1991, after graduating from NVMU, he entered the Military Medical Academy at the Naval Faculty, from which he graduated in 1997 with a degree in general medicine. From 1997 to 1999, on the basis of VMed.A and the St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, he received a specialization in therapy, psychiatry and psychotherapy. In 1998, after suffering a neuroinfection, he was dismissed from the armed forces for health reasons.

Since 1999, he has worked at the Clinic of Neurosis named after Academician I.P. Pavlova (SPb GPB No. 7) — first as a psychotherapist in the crisis department, then — head of the St. Petersburg City Psychotherapeutic Center, head of the organizational and methodological department for psychotherapy of the Health Committee of the Administration of St. Petersburg. Since 2000, he has served as an expert in psychotherapy at the Licensing Chamber of St. Petersburg. Author of two programs for the accreditation of medical services in healthcare institutions — psychotherapeutic and sexological.

During his time as the head of the St. Petersburg GPTC, he prepared and implemented two city-wide programs for the development of psychotherapeutic care in St. Petersburg with the help of his team: «and» Development and improvement of the psychotherapeutic service in St. Petersburg (2001 — 2005) «.

Within the framework of these programs, a system of phased and comprehensive provision of psychotherapeutic assistance to residents of the city was established in St. Petersburg, new psychotherapeutic rooms were opened, doctors of non-psychiatric specialties received additional education in medical psychology and psychotherapy, psychotherapists mastered modern technologies for providing psychotherapeutic assistance, etc. There were epidemiological studies on the prevalence of borderline mental disorders, psychosomatic diseases, anxiety and depressive states, suicidal behavior, sexual disorders, etc. have been carried out, the economic aspects of organizing psychotherapeutic care for the population have been studied, and a system for the effective use of financial resources in this area of ​​the health care system has been proposed. In addition, a large educational work was carried out with the population of the city in order to increase the level of psychological culture and mental health of citizens.

Since 2001, the «Clinical Pavlovsk Readings» have been established — the largest in the North-West of Russia, a regular, twice a year, scientific and practical conference dedicated to borderline mental disorders. He is the author of the idea, organizer, chairman of the editorial board, editor of collections of scientific papers for the conference.

He is the author of a modern model of psychology and psychotherapy — systemic behavioral psychotherapy, based on the works of prominent Russian scientists I.M. Sechenov, I.P. Pavlova, A.A. Ukhtomsky, L.S. Vygotsky. He developed unique psychotherapeutic technologies for the treatment of depressive disorders and phobias, crisis conditions and suicidal behavior, vegetative dystonia, overweight, psychosomatic diseases, etc.

Author of more than a hundred scientific papers and monographs on psychotherapy, borderline mental disorders and psychosomatic diseases. The monograph «Methodology, psychotherapy and personality development» was awarded the «Golden Psyche» award of the professional psychological community as the best scientific project in Russian psychology in 2002. Participated in several major scientific projects and experimental studies, including those commissioned by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Educational activity. Author of more than four hundred articles in the media on topical issues of psychology and psychotherapy. The author of more than twenty books on psychology and psychotherapy, addressed to the general reader and aimed at raising the level of the psychological culture of the population, published in a total circulation of more than one and a half million copies, translated into several foreign languages. In 2005, he became the author and host of the daily psychological program “We will decide everything with Dr. Kurpatov!” on TV channel «Home».

Currently, he is in charge of the “Clinic for Psychotherapeutic Counseling and Psychotherapeutic Treatment” in St. Petersburg, is a member of the expert council under the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and is actively involved in educational work.

He is married to the talented Russian writer Lilia Kim and has a daughter, Sophia.
