Kuril tea: useful properties and contraindications. Video

Those people who really care about their health postpone taking medications for serious cases, preferring folk remedies for the prevention and treatment of mild forms of diseases. But if the uncontrolled intake of drugs is prohibited for many of them, the attitude towards herbal medicine is less strict, which is completely unacceptable. The same applies to Kuril tea, which has recently been very popular for its healing properties.

Kuril tea – herbal tea with a rich history

Fireweed, Ivan tea, Koporsky and Kuril tea – this is not a complete list of the names of the same plant that can be found in the middle latitudes from the western to the eastern outskirts of Russia. It belongs to the Rosaceae family and is a shrub whose height can reach up to 1,5 m. The leaves have a narrow shape, similar to willow leaves, so another name for this plant is willow grass. Beautiful clusters of bright pink flowers make it an excellent honey plant.

The healing properties of fireweed have been known for a long time, back in the XNUMXth century its withered leaves were used to obtain herbal tea, an aromatic amber-yellow drink with an exquisite, slightly spicy taste. This tea was called “Koporsky” – from the name of the settlement of Koporye, located not far from St. Petersburg, where whole plantations of ivan tea grew on the sand dunes, which was harvested on an industrial scale and even exported to Europe, including Great Britain, famous for its tea houses traditions. In the XNUMXth-XNUMXth centuries, the export of Koporye tea in terms of its volumes surpassed such popular goods from Russia as gold, honey and hemp. Unfortunately, the world wars and the revolution have caused the complete oblivion of this craft, and only today the artisanal production of Koporye or Kuril tea is being revived, which can already be purchased in pharmacies, specialized stores or ordered on the Internet.
