– Our main postulate is to repair the health care system in Poland. We protest under the slogan: public health protection of the death. Heal or kill. We demand that this system be cured, or that Poles stop trying to trick Poles that they can be treated for free in Poland, explained Krystyna Ptok, president of the Polish National Trade Union of Nurses and Midwives, who was a guest of Bartosz Węglarczyk in the “Onet Rano” program.
Krystyna Ptok also referred to the protests of the medical community from 14 years ago and the white town that stood in front of the Sejm at that time. – We are talking about the fact that we want safe medics and safe patients. 14 years ago it was better, perhaps there were no renovated hospitals, but we did not work 400 hours, we did not die at work. It did not seem natural for the government that a medic would run from one job to another and to a third, to come to work with a suitcase, underwear and hygiene products to move from one hospital to another, or from one ambulance to another.
As the head of OZZPiP explained, the improvement of the quality of work of medical personnel guarantees the improvement of the quality of services and the safety of patients. – You can’t imagine that you are flying a plane with a pilot who is at work for 36 hours without a break and has not slept – she explained. As she added in terms of contacts with the Ministry of Health, it has changed that the representatives of the protesters were invited by the Minister of Health to a meeting on September 14, but with no information in whose presence.
