Krombacher – a private brewery located in the town of Krombach (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), produces about 7 hectoliters of premium beer per year and occupies a leading position in its segment. The law “On the purity of beer”, issued by the Bavarian duke back in 000, is not empty words for the enterprise. Water, hops, malt, yeast. No artificial additives: fermentation occurs naturally.
Historical reference. It all started in 1803 in Krombach, a suburb of Kreuztal, where Johannes Haas, having decided to help his father, the owner of a tavern (at that time only the one who brewed it could sell beer), became interested in brewing. Already in 1829, beer from Krombach became a regular participant in the Olpe Marksmen`s festival. Pilsner production started in the 1890s. In just ten years, the number of lines producing German lager increased to nine.
In 1908, the company acquired a symbol – the Kindelsberg tower, at the foot of which the brewery is located. Good beer was known not only in the district, but also abroad. Fortunately, industrialization was in full swing: equipment was being improved, the network of railways was growing. 1922 was a key year: the brewery was bought by Bernhard Schadeberg. The Schadeberg family owns the production to this day.
Alas, the Second World War made adjustments – Germany was covered by economic decline. It was forbidden to use barley for brewing beer – all resources were thrown into providing the necessary population of the country. Nevertheless, the brewery in Krombach remained afloat. After 1949, when the lowest production threshold was reached (19 hectoliters of beer per year), the company did everything to get back on its feet. Over the next 000 years, volumes more than quadrupled (compared to pre-war years).
Then everything went according to knurled. In the late 1980s, the company introduced a new kind of recycled beer bottles and crates. In 1996, Krombacher beer began to be sold via the Internet. By 2004, volumes had increased to 5 hectoliters per year. For 500, only the export of Krombacher beer is 000 hectoliters. Geography – more than 2014 countries.
Krombacher Brauerei GmbH & Co cooperates with environmental organizations. For example, it develops joint projects with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
In 2018, Krombacher sponsored the German Olympic team in Pyeongchang. Athletes gladly replenished the spent energy with non-alcoholic beer. However, three times more alcohol was supplied – 11 liters.
