Konix beer: history and overview of types

konix – Russian beer from one of the most famous producers of craft varieties. The hops are supplied by the American countries, while the malt is supplied by the Czech Republic and Germany. In addition, honey, spices, berries are used as ingredients, nothing artificial.

The history of Konix beer

2002 The Konix brewery was founded in the city of Zarechny, near Penza.

2008 In addition to the main line, experimental types were launched for sale.

2015 In autumn, a new brewery appeared on the site of the company, which was named Konix Brewery. The creators were Oleg Tatuev and Evgeny Golyaev. Professionals with 20 years of experience were hired for the position of brewers: Alexey Matrenin and Vladimir Voroyev.

2020 The product range includes many drinks from the permanent collection, experimental, as well as collaborations and strong varieties. The company aims to create high-quality and interesting beer for both connoisseurs and beginners in this field.

Types of beer Konix

The brewery produces more than 10 types of beer on an ongoing basis; 13 types of strong varieties that are aged in barrels where bourbon, whiskey, wine and others were previously stored; 2 contract varieties. Consider some of them and start with those that are brewed all year round.

  1. WHAT Crazy Moose, 5,5%

    American pale ale. Amber-yellow color with stable foam. Bitterness is clearly felt on the palate, as well as citrus, herbs and malt character. The aroma reveals hops, minty freshness, citrus and herbs. The aftertaste combines sweetness and bitterness.

  2. Hefeweizen, 4,8%

    Wheat ale. Dark yellow. Little foam. Sour, dominated by shades of banana and wheat. Smells like banana with nuances of cloves and wheat. The aftertaste is soft, like the beer itself.

  3. Bohemian Pilsner, 4,6%

    Pilsner made according to the classical method. Amber golden. The foam is high and dense. It is slightly bitter, has notes of malt and spice from Saaz hops from Saaz. Very fragrant. Drinks nice. It was conceived as experimental.

  4. Mary`s Breakfast, 5%

    Tomato gose. Made using the sour kettle method. Red color. Sour-salty, spicy with clove, garlic and pepper nuances. The salty taste comes from pink Himalayan salt. Aroma of tomato with spiciness. Vegetables and garlic remain in the aftertaste. Experimental.

  5. Russian Imperial Stout (barrel #Rioja), 12,5%

    Stout aged in American oak wine barrels. The process takes from one to two years, during which time the beer has time to acquire the properties of the famous Spanish wine of the Rioja region. Oak gives tannins and vanilla. Color black-brown. Sweetish, with tones of prunes and chocolate, alcohol content is not felt. Smells like vanilla. Warms like wine.

  6. Bastille porter, 7%

    Porter made in the Baltic style. It was brewed for the first time on July 20 on Bastille Day. Dark, almost black. The taste is sweetish, burnt and rye. Pleasant and unobtrusive. The aroma is weak. Drinks easily. Partner brew.

  7. Godverdomme! (Kuzkina Mother), 12%

    Quadrupel. Deep black-brown. There is little foam, and it quickly subsides. Dry, soft and chocolatey. The aroma reveals gradually, showing dried fruits, coriander and milk chocolate. The finish is smooth, long and creamy. Collaboration with the manufacturer “Craft Brew Riots”.

  8. Cookie Chaos, 9,5%

    Imperial milk stout. Very dark, almost black. Balanced, dense, with creamy notes on the palate. Smells like almonds. They are in the aftertaste, perhaps even macaroons and coffee. Has a warming effect. Collaboration with the Beer Happens bar.
