The dense bulb of this variety grows to a large size. The number of teeth in the head is from 6 to 13 pcs. The scales are light gray, turning into a brown or purple hue. The Komsomolets variety has a spicy taste. It is suitable for home canning and fresh consumption.

Garlic produces waxy green feathers. They have a mild flavor and are often eaten fresh. This garlic forms many arrows on which small onion seeds ripen.

Larger bulbs grow on well-fertilized soils

According to the ripening time, the Komsomolets variety belongs to the mid-season. From germination to full maturation, 100-120 days pass. In warm areas, garlic ripens faster, in colder areas it takes a little longer for the harvest to appear.

How to plant Komsomolets garlic?

This plant should be planted in late September or early October. Sometimes it is planted in early spring. For planting, it is necessary to select the largest bulbs without defects. Before planting, the teeth should be treated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or copper sulfate.

The Komsomolets garlic shown in the photo is best planted in the open sun. In order for the fruits to grow large and tasty, the shade from bushes, trees or buildings should not fall on the garlic garden. Before planting, the bed must be fertilized with humus or compost, slightly moistened.

Every year, the garden must be done in a new place – this will help to avoid diseases. It is good to plant the vegetable in the place where cucumbers, legumes, zucchini or cabbage grew last year. The cloves should be planted in a row 10 cm apart, to a depth of 6 cm. The distance between the rows is 30 cm. After planting, the bed should be sprinkled with sawdust for insulation.
