Kombucha or medusomycete is poorly understood. Scientists do not even know exactly the chemical composition and the number of compounds included in the drink prepared from it – kombucha. But in recent years there has been a lot of research going on. Kombucha is gaining popularity and has shown good results in the treatment of many diseases. Kombucha affects blood pressure and can lower it, but does not replace medication.

Does kombucha affect blood pressure

Medusomycete is a symbiosis of a yeast fungus and an acetic acid bacterium. When interacting with a nutrient solution sweetened with tea or prepared from a small amount of tea leaves, it turns it into a complex of substances useful for the human body.

Kombucha contains vitamins, minerals, enzymes, alkaloids, sugars, organic acids, lipids and other compounds. Kombucha lowers blood pressure due to the content:

  • theobromine – an alkaloid that dilates blood vessels, which has a diuretic effect;
  • lipase – a water-soluble enzyme that plays a crucial role in the breakdown of fats (often the cause of high pressure is excess weight);
  • vitamin B2, which improves metabolism;
  • theophylline – an alkaloid, a light diuretic that dilates blood vessels and bronchial tubes;
  • gluconic acid, which activates metabolic processes;
  • routine, which strengthens the walls of blood vessels;
  • calciferol, which regulates metabolism.
Important! During the first 3-5 days of preparation, kombucha breaks down sugar; kombucha contains mostly wine alcohol and carbon dioxide, which do not benefit the body. The drink becomes curative no earlier than on the fifth day, when it begins to release organic acids.

Does kombucha increase or decrease blood pressure?

Kombucha reduces blood pressure, but cannot replace a full-fledged treatment. It has a tonic and strengthening effect on the body, helps to lose weight, which is very important for hypertension.

Kombucha cannot increase pressure if it was prepared only with tea leaves and sugar. Therefore, in its pure form, it is not recommended for hypotensive patients.

Kombucha, which was infused for 8-10 days, is useful for hypertension. It is best to use green leaf tea leaves. To enhance the effect, kombucha is mixed with herbal infusions, and honey is added to make the taste more pleasant. Sometimes medicinal plants are added at the stage of preparation of the drink.

Comment! Contrary to popular belief, medusomycete perfectly interacts not only with black, but also with green tea, some herbs. In our country, few people know about it, but in America, which is the leader in the consumption of kombucha, they are widely used.

Traditional recipe

Kombucha, prepared according to a traditional recipe, acts the most gently from pressure. The finished drink is diluted 1: 1 with boiled water. Drink 3-4 times a day for 0,5 cups.

Kombucha on cudweed

Swamp kombucha infused with cudweed is useful for hypertension at the initial stage:

  1. 130-140 g of herbs are poured into 2 liters of boiling water overnight.
  2. In the morning, the already cooled infusion is filtered.
  3. Introduce sugar syrup.
  4. Gently add to a jar of kombucha.
  5. When the smell begins to give vinegar, the infusion is poured into a clean bowl and put in the refrigerator.

Drink 3-4 times a day for 1/3 cup. Sushenitsa, added instead of tea leaves to kombucha, lowers blood pressure, dilates blood vessels, and slows down the heart rate.

In the chronic course of hypertension, a mixture of the same amount of kombucha and an aqueous infusion of dry bean pods will help. If high pressure is accompanied by headaches, you can put a compress moistened with a solution on your forehead.

With dill seeds

A mixture of equal parts water infusion of dill seeds and kombucha will help lactating women suffering from hypertension. The drink, in addition to reducing pressure, soothes, improves lactation.

Comment! The alcohol contained in the infusion of kombucha, on the 8-10th day, mixed with dill water, has a concentration of not more than 0,5%. Such is the strength of kefir, and this drink is definitely allowed for moms.

Kombucha does not lose its properties in the refrigerator for about 3 months, but it is better to drink it warm. You can heat kombucha right before drinking – this is acceptable for the finished drink.

The infusion of kombucha diluted with herbs is drunk 1/3 cup 3-4 times a day. Pure kombucha can be taken at 100 and 200 g.

A drink diluted with water or an infusion of herbs becomes less tasty. It is useful to add honey to it, especially in the treatment of pressure.

Some sources advise drinking an infusion of jellyfish on an empty stomach and just before bedtime. Indeed, then the therapeutic effect will be powerful.

But people suffering from high blood pressure cannot afford such liberties. Their body is weakened, the vessels are fragile, often arteriosclerosis is present as a concomitant disease. In addition, hypertension is often an age-related disease. It is better to be treated gradually, not to “whip” the body.

Can kombucha be hypotensive

In its pure form, kombucha does not increase blood pressure. Hypotension patients are generally not recommended to drink it, and kombucha prepared on a green leaf is prohibited.

Young people with low blood pressure can take a drink from medusomyces in small doses if they feel well and their condition is by no means painful. Age-related hypotension can gradually drink kombucha on black tea during remission. Diluted 2 times with boiled water, maximum 1 cup per day, not on an empty stomach.

Comment! Infused with some herbs, kombucha raises blood pressure. But this case is so individual that it is better not to be treated on your own, you need to consult a specialist.

Limitations and contraindications

Undiluted, you can only drink an infusion of jellyfish, prepared for 3-4 days. It has no medicinal value, but it will not bring much harm either. It’s just a delicious refreshing drink.

It is absolutely impossible to take kombucha for diabetics, people with a stomach ulcer in the acute stage, especially with increased acidity. During the period of remission, a drink from black tea is allowed, diluted with water at least twice, always with the addition of honey (in the absence of obesity).
