Knees crackle – what to do? Video
The crunch in the knees is not always given due attention. For many years, this sound can deliver only minimal inconvenience. However, the treatment of crunching in the knees should be dealt with as early as possible, because this symptom may indicate serious illnesses, and, ignoring it, you can skip complications.
The causes of crunching knees
You may not pay attention to the crunch in your knees for years, because in most cases it does not cause inconvenience. However, this problem can be a symptom of serious diseases, such as arthrosis of the knee joint or polyarthritis. These diseases can start asymptomatically, so a crunch in the knees becomes the first alarm bell, which must be paid attention to.
This problem can be especially pronounced during physical activity (running, brisk walking, squatting) and at the same time be accompanied by pain
The reasons for the crunch can be the following:
- overweight
- walking on shoes with very high heels
- sedentary work
- improper nutrition
- knee injuries
- regular weight lifting
Self-prophylaxis and therapy
Do physical therapy. At first, even simple exercises can be uncomfortable, especially if you have never exercised. Exercise without weights, keeping in mind proper warm-up and good stretching.
Avoid workouts that put a lot of stress on your knees. Among them – running, cycling, strength exercises on the legs. You can start to them only after eliminating the crunch in the knees.
If you do everything right, then after 2-3 weeks your knees should crunch less with regular squats.
Diversify your diet with foods that help strengthen bones and improve cartilage. Eat fermented milk products, fresh herbs, cartilage, gelatin, jellied meat. Eliminate salty and sweet foods to prevent salt build-up in your knee joints.
Take a massage therapy course. Remember that such an effect on the knees is possible only if there are no inflammatory processes in this area.
Lose excess weight. In some cases, this alone will be enough to get rid of the crunch in the knees.
Self-medication with folk methods is the worst thing you can do to correct the situation in this case. To prevent the development of the disease, an accurate diagnosis is necessary. As a rule, physiotherapy in combination with medication is prescribed at the initial stage of the disease. The treatment of crunch in the knees is carried out by a group of chondoprotective drugs that promote the restoration of cartilage tissue, the course of treatment should be prescribed by a doctor.
On the pharmaceutical market there are many dietary supplements of similar action. But it is still better to discuss all treatment options with your doctor.
On your own, you can take supplements that include hyaluronic acid and collagen. These substances will not only help make the connective tissue more elastic, but also add firmness to your skin.
