Unfortunately, our apartments rarely boast large areas. And for some unknown reason, kitchens are the cramped ones. Although in this room, as a rule, not only cook, but also eat. That is, in fact, it is both a kitchen and a dining room. And all this is given a very small area. The owners of nine squares are considered almost lucky: there are much smaller rooms. But repairing a kitchen of 9 square meters is also a difficult task: you have to allocate and arrange two zones: a work one for cooking, and a dining room. 

Repair stages

At first, the repair of a kitchen of 9 square meters is not much different from similar rooms of other dimensions. The general work plan looks like this:

• Dismantling of old furniture, finishing materials.
  

• Modernization of electrical wiring and engineering systems. If the apartment is old, you will have to change the wiring: it is not designed for such a number of appliances that are present in a modern kitchen. The picture is similar with ventilation. To ensure a normal microclimate, a powerful hood is needed, and it is desirable to bring a ventilation duct under it. There are two options – either put the stove close to the ventilation shaft, or somehow change the location of the ventilation. The boxes and sleeves that are used for this are not the most attractive elements (unless you are planning a loft style). Therefore, it is necessary to make sure that they are covered with furniture.
• Replacement and transfer of plumbing – pipes, etc.
• Window replacement.
• Ceiling finish. If you do not want to putty, you can do it simply: make a stretch ceiling. But then this stage is transferred – they stretch the film after finishing the walls.
  

• Leveling the floor (screed). At this stage, if desired, you can make heating. In most cases, apartments have electric underfloor heating.
• Door replacement.
• Alignment and finishing of walls, installation of a kitchen apron.
• Arrangement of furniture.
  

It is very desirable as a result to get a flat floor, walls and ceiling. The walls, in principle, can be pasted over with kitchen wallpaper, which will hide the bumps. So with a limited budget, focus on leveling the floor.

If you want something original, and the budget is more or less, pay attention to self-leveling floors. If you don’t like the idea of ​​having a photo on the floor, a perfectly flat surface with a metallic effect or some other solution may work. This is a good replacement for tiles: there are no seams, and the moisture insulating properties are high. In any case, the choice of the type of finishing materials is up to you. And not only – sex, but also all the rest.

An integral part of the renovation of the kitchen is 9 sq. meters is the choice of color design. This room cannot be classified as spacious, therefore, for visual perception it will be better if the shades are light. If you lean towards white and its shades, you can make the walls and ceiling the same color. This visually makes the kitchen more spacious, and also allows you to choose brighter furniture. In this case, it can be green, red, blue. It’s already a matter of preference.

Arrangement of furniture

The most critical part of a kitchen renovation is choosing the layout and type of furniture. If the irregularities of the walls and ceiling only look “not very good”, then poorly selected furniture causes real inconvenience. Because of them, the hostess gets tired more, the rest of the family is uncomfortable. “Little things” such as unrounded corners lead to the fact that bruises are constantly found on family members; an unsuccessful way to open doors – to cones, etc. Therefore, take this point seriously. All the subtleties of choosing a kitchen set are spelled out here, but for now we will describe in general terms.

The kitchen with an area of ​​9 squares is medium in size: not small anymore, but not yet big. This explains the basics of planning: you have to give preference either to a larger work area, or to make a larger dining area. Here you choose yourself.

Kitchen set on an area of ​​​​9 square meters. meters can be made of four types:

• Linear. This is the same option when more meta is allocated for the dining area. In this case, you can put a sofa and quite a decent table with chairs on the other side. But the option with a sofa is for two, a maximum of three. If the family is larger, they put chairs, sometimes stools
  

• The letter “G” or angular arrangement. In this case, there are more cabinets and lockers, as well as work surfaces between appliances: it is more convenient for the hostess to cook. In this version, you can still put a table, but you have to choose its shape, depending on the geometry of the kitchen and the location of the window-doors.
  

• G-shaped or peninsular layout in the kitchen 9 sq. m. is an idea at the level of aerobatics. The ledge, as a rule, is made in the form of a small bar counter, leaving the space below free.
  

• A U-shaped 9-meter kitchen usually also occupies a window sill. In this case, there is not much space for the table and they most often make it folding or retractable.
  

Other methods of location on such an area are unacceptable. But these types provide a lot of options, an almost infinite number.

Nothing helps in developing your own design like the interiors you see. There are many interesting ideas that have already been implemented, and in the same areas.

Orange-beige kitchen

Repairs were made in the kitchen of a standard house: the P-43 series, the kitchen is a little less than 9 squares. It was decided to make a working area along the same wall, just moved the stove and sink.

The budget is “not very”, so we tried to find things of decent quality at a low price. We managed to save on furniture: we simply ordered cabinets, without assembly, fittings, countertops, sinks, taps and most of the filling. All this can be bought separately, at prices much lower than offered in furniture companies. Installing all this “economy” is not too difficult, with straight hands it turns out no worse.

The ceiling was properly leveled earlier, it was just painted with a fresh emulsion. The choice of building materials began with tiles for the backsplash (found in OBI). The doors of the kitchen set below will be orange, so bright colors were excluded immediately. We settled on white and orange, on white – a few decorative tiles. Beige tones were successfully present in them, which almost exactly match the color of the doors of the wall cabinets.

On the walls in the same place, in OBI, they chose light beige wallpaper: vinyl on non-woven fabric. In the next department we found a chandelier that seemed attractive to us. They also bought spotlights.

In the same store looked after the laminate. Almost the most expensive in price, but in the kitchen the cheap one just won’t work.

They brought our facade. Ordered without assembly – to save. It was neatly packaged in cardboard. Started assembly.

The curtain to our design approaches only rolled. Bought it from IKEA. I had to run around with a table and chairs, but as a result they were also bought there. By design, I really like them, but by color – what was it. There was no better one at the time.

Little things remained – filling cabinets. This was found by running around the shops selling furniture fittings.

Everything was relatively inexpensive. This, of course, is not a designer renovation, but pretty well.

Interesting renovation ideas for a kitchen of 9 sq m

There are several techniques that can be used if conditions permit. The layout is different for everyone, as is the thickness of the walls. And these are often defining conditions.

Kitchen with balcony

On the one hand, the balcony in the kitchen is great: you can adapt it to your needs. Previously, they made a cabinet in which some supplies were stored. With this option, the balcony is inconvenient: the kitchen turns out to be a walk-through, which takes up a lot of space. In this case, the kitchen is mostly of a linear type, it stands along the longest wall. On the contrary, approximately in the middle, they put a table, most often – a rectangular shape. Unfold it with the long side along the wall. In some layouts, this is the only possible option.

Today there is a cardinal solution: the balcony is insulated, the doors and the window block are removed, transferring the dining area to the former balcony. The cost of such re-equipment is decent: everything needs to be insulated: floor, ceiling, walls. Then – put good double-glazed windows. It is also necessary to somehow organize heating: moving batteries is a long undertaking with a dubious result (ordering a calculation and a project, coordinating it …). It is easier to make an electric floor heating. The area is small, with normal insulation, the bills will be small.

When repairing, it is not even necessary to remove the part of the wall that was under the window. This ledge can be turned into a bar counter.

If this element does not fit into your plans, you can leave this piece as a counter or cabinet: horizontal surfaces in the kitchen are never superfluous.

If you do not like this option, this “stub” is removed. Please note: only him. The walls on the right and left are load-bearing, they cannot be affected categorically. Not an inch. But even just a neatly decorated square opening already looks good.

If the U-shaped opening does not please, you can make an arch, even just round one of the corners and the picture will already change.

If you beat the passage, make a suspended ceiling, lighting – you get a design element that gives the kitchen interior a special charm.

What can be done on a balcony / loggia combined with a kitchen? Yes, whatever. You can make a counter not very wide across the entire width of the window, place high, but comfortable chairs there.

You can do the opposite – put a dining table on the loggia or on the balcony. But for this it will be necessary to remove the very “stub” of the wall that was under the window. Good solution, by the way.

Someone manages to put even a sofa in this small space. The solution is not ordinary, but, as you can see, it can also be implemented.

With the right approach, you can take out a refrigerator on the balcony. Usually there are problems with its placement: a thing that is too dimensional, which is difficult to organically fit somewhere. And often the repair of a kitchen of a small area (9 square meters is not much) is stalled precisely when looking for an option for its installation.

Use of window and window sill

Not everyone has a balcony in the kitchen, but perhaps most have a window. If desired, it can also be turned into a very functional area. The first, often used application is the replacement of the window sill with a countertop. With this option, it is worth making the tabletop quite wide so that you can cook and eat, if necessary, and arrange a workplace there – put a laptop and check mail while drinking coffee.

Some time ago, it was not customary to put kitchen furniture near the window: radiators are usually located there, and closing them is not a good idea. But it became possible to transfer radiators – light aluminum and bimetallic ones appeared, and they also began to make heating with warm floors. This expands the possibilities of installing furniture: it can also be placed by the window.

Washing by the window in the kitchen is almost like a classic of the genre. True, the option is not without problems: there will be splashes on the glass, and also difficulties with the transfer of sewers. However, they do so.

Another option is to make a locker under the window. However, then it is possible both above and on the sides … It turns out very well, and the space is used at 100%.

Appliances and utensils are placed in the upper cabinets, which are used only occasionally. We have them, and there are many of them. It turns out very functional. Just pay attention to the fact that the color of the furniture should be light. Otherwise, the cabinets will “crush”.

In narrow, long kitchens, a dining area can be taken out under the window. The solution is very non-standard, but such a layout is also rare. Nevertheless, the idea is interesting.

For romantic natures, for whom functionality is not the main thing, you can make a place for gatherings instead of a window sill. True, this is – if the walls allow. And these are old brick Stalin-style houses. Their kitchens are also 9 square meters, however, the ceilings are high …
