King of Spirits is an ambitious name. Translated from English as “King of Spirits”. The creators of the Czech absinthe “King of Spirits” tried to make sure that it does not disappoint even the most picky and biased connoisseurs of wormwood tincture. The taste of the drink is very similar to the old classic absinthe, which was fond of European bohemia of the XNUMXth century.
In 1992, two Czech entrepreneurs, Pavel Varga and Jiri Cerny, decided to import the best brands of spirits: cognac, rum, absinthe. The companions opened their own store, and things went well. But in the early 90s, the Czech market was literally flooded with cheap fakes, and it was not easy for honest sellers of high-quality alcohol to compete with scammers.
Two years later, Varga and Cerny came to the conclusion that they themselves needed to engage in the production of alcoholic beverages. In June 1994, they created L’or special drinks and acquired a small distillery located in the village of Pradlo, near the town of Nepomuk.
L’or is French for “gold”. In one of his interviews, Pavel Varga said that he and his friend immediately decided to produce the best alcohol in the Czech Republic. But the companions argued about varieties for a long time. Varga studied the culture of drinking in different countries for many years, was interested in the history of famous wineries. He always regretted that real cognac, like real champagne, could only be produced in France. Therefore, the choice of companions fell on less “geographically localized” types of alcohol: rum, vodka and, of course, absinthe.
The first absinthe produced by L’or special drinks was King of Spirits. The classic recipe of the end of the 100th century was taken as the basis. Even the content of thujone in one of the varieties of King of Spirits is almost as high as in the old tinctures: XNUMX mg per liter.
King of Spirits is a classic example of macerated absinthe: after infusion, it is not distilled, but carefully filtered. No artificial colors or preservatives are added to the composition. At the bottom of bottles with a drink, you can see a small sediment. Thanks to this, absinthe has a rich taste and continues to infuse even in the bottle.
Every year, King of Spirits is gaining more and more popularity among absinthe lovers. In order to expand production in 2014, L’or special drinks acquired a new modern distillery in Dolny Bousov.
Types of absinthe King of Spirits
