😉 Hello dear readers! “Kind Angel” is a real case of how a mother in the hungry war years refused to feed her newborn baby, wishing him death.
Young family
This story began shortly before the Great Patriotic War. The demobilized soldier Fyodor returned from Belarus to a remote Siberian village. He came not alone, but with his beautiful wife Olesya.
The appearance of a stranger in the Kerzhak village caused a commotion. The young people were greeted very coldly, if not with hostility, especially by Fyodor’s parents. They did not want to know anything about their daughter-in-law and the born grandson of Gregory.
The newlyweds settled in an ownerless wreckage house on the bank of the river. Fedor got a job at the timber industry enterprise, and Olesya was engaged in housekeeping. They lived in love, but very poorly.
It is not known how their further fate would have developed, but the war began and Fedor was again called up for service. Olesya at this time was pregnant with her second child, and all family concerns fell on her shoulders.
At first, she hid her pregnancy, and she even managed to earn a little extra money. But when her position became obvious, she closed in on herself and stopped leaving the house.
The young mother’s condition was critical. The birth was approaching, no news from Fedor, there was no one to expect help from, and she did not know how to feed herself and her two children. A small vegetable garden, a meager supply of flour – that was all she could count on.
There were never any social services and even representatives of the authorities in the village. The woman was more and more inclined to think that Fedor would not return. It became clear that one could not raise two children.
Desperate attempts to terminate the pregnancy with poisonous herbs and mushrooms did not work. The birth took place in a small bathhouse and was not easy. The child, like two drops of water similar to Fedor, was born healthy and vigorous, but the mother firmly decided not to feed him.
She left her son on a wide bench, plugged small cracks in the walls of the bathhouse with rags so as not to hear him cry, and even found a place in the garden for a future grave. It only remained to wait.
Good conquers evil!
The days passed, and the child remained alive. Olesya knew this for sure, because every morning she spied on him through the hole in the door of the bathhouse, left over from the knot that had fallen out. The child was still lying on the bath bench and, surprisingly, did not even cry.
At times it seemed to the mother: the newborn somehow senses her presence outside the door and smiles. At such moments, she ran into the house, hugged her eldest son and sobbed for a long time.
It is impossible to describe what was happening in Olesya’s soul. However, the harsh circumstances did not allow her to change her mind. A painful week passed, and the child continued to live! Finally, the mother realized that she could not do without someone’s help, and began to look after the bath day and night.
One evening, her eldest son Gregory disappeared from the house. Not finding him, Olesya went out into the courtyard and saw the open door to the bathhouse. Gasping with anticipation, she burst into the tiny room.
The picture that opened up to her gaze could drive anyone into a stupor. Her firstborn – Grisha, like a kind angel, knelt in front of the newborn and brought crushed boiled potatoes to his small mouth with a wooden spoon.
And at that moment Olesya suddenly realized what she wanted to do, and, sobbing, grabbed her child in her arms. She never dreamed of anything like that again, and together with the children, despite the unbearable difficulties, survived the war.
