Kidofen is used in fever of various origins (also in the course of viral infections, in the course of a post-vaccination reaction), pain of various origins of mild to moderate intensity: headache, throat and muscle pain (e.g. in the course of viral infections), pain in muscles, joints and bones (e.g. as a result of injuries of the musculoskeletal system), pains due to soft tissue injuries, postoperative pains, toothaches, pains after dental procedures, painful teething, headaches, earaches occurring in inflammation of the middle ear.

ACTION

KIdofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Kidofen indications and dosage

Kidofen is an oral suspension taken:

  1. in fever, e.g. during viral infections or post-vaccination reaction,
  2. in headaches,
  3. in sore throats,
  4. in muscle pain (e.g. viral infections),
  5. in bone and joint pain (e.g. due to trauma to the musculoskeletal system),
  6. in pains caused by trauma to soft tissues,
  7. in postoperative pains,
  8. in toothache,
  9. in pain after dental procedures,
  10. during painful teething,
  11. during otitis media, accompanied by pain in the head and ears.

Dosage of the preparation

Kidofen is a suspension to be taken by mouth. Do not exceed the recommended dose of the preparation.

  1. Adults usually 20-30 mg / kg / day division
  2. Infants 3.-6. month of life (5-7,6 kg bw) 2,5 ml 3 × / d (150 mg / d).
  3. Babies 6-12. month of life (7,7-9 kg bw) 2,5 ml 3-4 times / d (150-200 mg / d).
  4. Children 1-3. years of age (10-15 kg bw) 5 ml 3 × / d (300 mg / d).
  5. Children 4-6. years of age (16-20 kg bw) 7,5 ml 3 × / d (450 mg / d).
  6. Children 7-9. years of age (21-29 kg bw) 10 ml 3 × / d (600 mg / d).
  7. Children 10-12. years of age (30-40 kg bw) 15 ml 3 × / d (900 mg / d).

Kidofen and contraindications

There are the following contraindications to taking Kidofen preparation:

  1. allergy to any ingredient of the preparation or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
  2. active or previous gastric and / or duodenal ulcer disease,
  3. gastrointestinal perforation or bleeding, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  4. severe liver, kidney or heart failure
  5. parallel use of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (including COX-2 inhibitors),
  6. hemorrhagic diathesis,
  7. III trimester of pregnancy,
  8. allergy symptoms such as runny nose, cutaneous urticaria or bronchial asthma after taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in a history.

Kidofen – warnings about the drug

  1. Consult your doctor before giving this medicine to children under 6 months of age.
  2. If symptoms persist or worsen after 3 days of taking the preparation, see a doctor.
  3. People with high blood pressure and / or cardiac dysfunction, liver problems, kidney problems, systemic lupus erythematosus and mixed connective tissue disease, blood clotting disorders (ibuprofen may prolong bleeding time) and patients taking other medications (antihistamines). anticoagulants, diuretics, cardiac drugs, corticosteroids) should be used with caution.
  4. Patients with a history of the following gastrointestinal diseases: ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease and Crohn’s disease are at risk of exacerbation of these diseases.
  5. Patients with bronchial asthma and allergies should exercise caution as the drug may induce bronchospasm.
  6. The risk of side effects is increased in the elderly. To avoid side effects, it is recommended to take the lowest dose of Kidofen for the shortest possible time.
  7. Taking the drug poses a risk of gastrointestinal haemorrhage, ulceration or perforation, which may be fatal and may not necessarily be preceded by warning symptoms.
  8. Especially at the beginning of taking the drug, inform the physician about any disturbing symptoms related to the digestive tract, e.g. bleeding. This note especially applies to the elderly and patients with gastrointestinal diseases, for whom it is recommended to use the lowest dose possible.
  9. Taking anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin, acenocoumarol), anti-aggregating drugs (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid), corticosteroids increases the risk of bleeding and gastrointestinal dysfunction.
  10. At the beginning of treatment, skin reactions may occur, which may be fatal in some cases: exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis.
  11. At the first appearance of skin symptoms (e.g. rash, damage to the oral mucosa, other signs of hypersensitivity), it is recommended to stop treatment immediately and see a doctor.
  12. People suffering from hypertension, cardiac dysfunction, edema, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking should consult a physician before using the preparation.
  13. There is a risk of a heart attack or stroke due to long-term use of the drug in high doses.
  14. Taking ibuprofen for a long time in parallel with other pain medications can lead to kidney failure.
  15. Patients with problems related to fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine because it contains sucrose.
  16. Non-steroidal inflammatory drugs can lead to transient fertility problems in women.
  17. Women in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy should not use the drug, it can only take place with the consent of the doctor and if absolutely necessary.
  18. Women in the third trimester of pregnancy cannot take the drug.
  19. Women during breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking the preparation.
  20. Patients driving motor vehicles should be especially careful as the drug may cause scotoma and blurred vision. You should see a doctor if they occur.

Kidofen with other drugs

Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs (including ibuprofen) at the same time as:

  1. acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (as the risk of side effects increases);
  2. diuretics or antihypertensives (possible reduction in their effectiveness);
  3. anticoagulants (possible increase in their effect, e.g. warfarin);
  4. zidovudine (risk of prolonged bleeding time);
  5. methotrexate and lithium (possible increase in plasma levels of both lithium and methotrexate; it is recommended to control their concentration in the blood);
  6. corticosteroids (increased risk of side effects, especially in the gastrointestinal tract);
  7. cardiac glycosides (risk of increasing heart failure and increasing the concentration of cardiac glycosides in the plasma);
  8. mifepristone (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used for 8 to 12 days after mifepristone administration may reduce its effectiveness);
  9. cyclosporin (increased risk of nephrotoxicity);
  10. quinolone antibiotics (increased risk of convulsions).

Kidofen – side effects

Taking Kidofen can lead to side effects.

  1. The following may occur: indigestion, abdominal pain and discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, vomiting, gastritis, gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation (may be fatal, especially in the elderly), tarry stools , bloody vomiting, gastric ulcer disease and / or duodenal ulcer, worsening of colitis and Crohn’s disease, liver dysfunction, decreased urine output, renal failure, renal papillary necrosis, increased sodium concentration in blood plasma (sodium retention), edema, high blood pressure, heart failure, depression, psychotic reactions, tinnitus.
  2. Very rare: blood and lymphatic system disorders such as: haemolytic and aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, pancytopenia (the first symptoms of these disorders include: fever, sore throat, superficial mouth ulcers, flu-like symptoms, fatigue, bleeding, bruising, ecchymosis, purpura, epistaxis). Hypersensitivity and allergic reactions (rash, itching, hives, erythema multiforme, swelling of the face, larynx, tongue, dyspnoea, decreased blood pressure, shock, exacerbation of asthma, bronchospasm, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome) may occur. . Isolated cases of symptoms associated with aseptic meningitis (neck stiffness, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, confusion) have been reported in people with autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus erythematosus).
  3. Long-term use of ibuprofen in high doses may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
