Khamovniki

Khamovniki is a Russian beer brand launched on the market in 2012 and owned by the Moscow Brewing Company. According to the Nielsen agency, the largest independent brewery in Russia occupies about 3% of the Russian beer market. The assortment portfolio also includes popular domestic brands such as Zhiguli Barnoe, Trekhgornoye, El Shaggy Shmel. Licensed brands Oettinger, Hollandia, Faxe are brewed at the production facilities of the plant.

Historical reference. Moscow Brewing Company is quite young: its history dates back to 2008, when the brewery built in Mytishchi and equipped with the most modern equipment was put into operation. The company also has its own logistics and distribution centers. The Khamovniki beer itself has a longer history, the beginning of which dates back to the second half of the 1935th century, the time of the founding of the Khamovniki beer and honey brewery. At the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the brewery was awarded the title of Supplier of the Imperial Court. In the post-revolutionary period, the nationalized plant continued to produce beer only in XNUMX.

In the 2000s, the enterprise lost ground and closed, the production workshops were demolished, despite the original plans to preserve them as historical buildings. The revival of the former glory began with the acquisition of the Khamovniki trademark by the Moscow Brewing Company. Currently, the brand line includes 10 types of beer, many of which are highly appreciated at the most prestigious international exhibitions.

To emphasize the continuity of brewing traditions, the container design developed by the Dutch Design House agency is called upon. The beer is bottled in glass bottles of an elongated conical shape, similar in style to beer containers of the late XNUMXth century. The similarity is further enhanced by the embossing on the neck and the olive green color of the glass.

Types of beer Khamovniki

Khamovniki Pilzenskoe, 4,8%

The beer with which the IPC began the revival of the brand “Khamovniki”, marked by a large number of awards at international competitions. Classic German pils of golden color, absolutely transparent, with snow-white fine-grained foam. The bouquet exactly matches the style: even in the aromatics, the dryness inherent in pilsners, grassy hops, hay, and a slight sulfur content are felt. The body is dense, with a grain base, hop bitterness in taste does not suppress, but harmoniously complements the sweetness of malt. Beer is drunk very easily, perfectly refreshing, and can also be served at the table.

Khamovniki English Ale, 6,2%

The variety replenished the brand line in 2015 and is a bottled version of Grand Ale previously available only in draft form. The beer owes its copper color to the caramel-red malt Carared included in the composition. The rich aromatic range is the merit of selected hop varieties Cervenak and Hersbrucker. The body is dense, oily, low carbonation. The taste is balanced by caramel-fruit tones and noticeable hop bitterness. It is easy to drink, alcohol tones “do not stick out”, but provide a pleasant warming effect. Beef steaks, grilled lamb ribs, battered fish are suitable as appetizers.

Khamovniki Munich, 5,5%

German marzen in the interpretation of the braumeister of the Moscow Brewing Company Mikhail Ershov. The most dense variety in the brand line is the extract content of the initial wort of 13%. The color of the beer poured into a glass is dark amber, the creamy foam of medium-grained consistency settles rather quickly, but is kept on the surface in a thin layer. In a bittersweet floral aroma, tones of malt, caramel, raisins, dried apples are distinguishable. The body is dense, velvety, medium carbonation. From the first sip, you can feel the hop component, which gives way to rich malt sweetness, honey and bread notes. In the dry aftertaste, a delicate bitterness appears, like from grapefruit or almonds. Beer is suitable for thoughtful enjoyment and does not need a large selection of snacks.

Khamovniki Canteen, 3,7%

European-style light beer brewed with three hop varieties: Melon, Mandarina Bavaria and Polaris. The color is straw-yellow, it looks crystal clear in the light, the foam cap rises to the edges of the glass and does not fall off for a long time. In a typical lager aroma, malt and grassy hop tones coexist on an equal footing, against a background of floral and citrus shades. Taste with a grain base, enhanced by a delicate bitterness. In the aftertaste, hops come to the fore – soft and noticeable on the exhale. Light beer, which is nice to cool off in the summer heat or drink meat and fish dishes. It is bottled in glass bottles made in the style of the XNUMXth century.

Khamovniki Kabinet, 4,9%

The tenth, “anniversary” beer in the brand line. It is a red ale brewed using dry hopping technology. It has a golden-copper color with ruby glimpses, it is poured into a glass with abundant medium-grained foam. The aromatic range is due to the use of English hops: it has the strongest floral-spicy and woody notes. On the palate, there is a moderate, but obvious bitterness, balanced by hints of toffee, caramel, and fruit. It will make a good gastronomic pair of chicken with curry sauce, spicy sujuk sausage, rolls in bonito tuna chips.

Khamovniki Irish Stout, 4,1%

Beer in the style of Irish Stout, the recipe of which was developed by the head brewer of the MPK Mikhail Ershov. The stout owes its characteristic flavor and aroma to the use of roasted barley and English Golding hops. The color is dark brown, almost black, with a ruby uXNUMXbuXNUMXb”core”, the foam is creamy coffee, medium profusion. In the rich aroma, notes of dark chocolate, cold cappuccino, cocoa are distinguishable. After standing in the glass, the stout reveals creamy and caramel shades. The taste corresponds to the declared style – dry, viscous, with notes and a final pleasant bitterness. In the aftertaste, there is a taste of a little nuts, a burnt crust of bread, a little “smoke”.
