Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) is a gel recommended for use:

  1. in musculoskeletal pain, especially post-traumatic (dislocation, sprain),
  2. in inflammation of the tendons.

Dosage

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) is a gel and is intended for topical application. It should not be used for more than 10 days.

  1. Apply a 5-10 cm long strip of gel to the skin in the area of ​​pain and gently massage it in; repeat 2-3 a day.

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) and contraindications to use

Contraindications to the use of Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) are:

  1. hypersensitivity to ketoprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any component of the preparation,
  2. an attack of aspirin-induced asthma
  3. rashes
  4. rhinitis after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
  5. bronchial asthma,
  6. frequent hypersensitivity reactions,
  7. exudative skin diseases,
  8. eczema,
  9. Burns,
  10. ulcers
  11. open wounds,
  12. skin damage.
  13. pregnancy (especially from the 6th month of pregnancy) and the period of breastfeeding,
  14. use in children up to 12 years of age,
  15. use under occlusive dressing.

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) – warnings

  1. The gel should not be used on large surfaces.
  2. Treatment should be discontinued as soon as allergic changes appear on the skin.
  3. The preparation should not be used on mucous membranes (genitals, eyes).
  4. People with heart failure, kidney or liver problems should exercise caution.
  5. Wear gloves when massaging the gel into the skin for a long time.
  6. For a period of 2 weeks after the end of the treatment, exposure to the sun (including a solarium) should be avoided.
  7. The use of Ketoprofen in pregnant women is not recommended.
  8. Pregnant women up to the 5th month may use the preparation only after consulting a doctor and if necessary.
  9. The use of Ketopronil in women over 6 months of pregnancy is prohibited.
  10. The gel should not be used during breastfeeding.

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) with other medications

Ketopronil gel (Ketoprofen) is absorbed into the skin in about 5%, therefore interactions with other preparations are unlikely. After systemic administration (including other NSAIDs), methotrexate has serious interactions.

Ketoprofen can inhibit the excretion of:

  1. methotrexate,

can reduce the effect of diuretics:

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) – side effects

While taking Ketopronil (Ketoprofen), the following may occur:

  1. local skin reactions (erythema, rash, contact eczema, urticaria, pruritus),
  2. very rare: photosensitivity, dermatitis vesicular, anaphylactic reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, worsening of pre-existing renal dysfunction,
  3. in people allergic to acetylsalicylic acid and its derivatives, the preparation may trigger an attack of bronchial asthma.
