Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) is used in bone and muscle pain, especially post-traumatic (dislocations, sprains) and inflammation of the tendons. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a propionic acid derivative. The preparation is a gel for external use and is dispensed without a prescription.

Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) – indications and dosage
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) is a gel recommended for use:
- in musculoskeletal pain, especially post-traumatic (dislocation, sprain),
- in inflammation of the tendons.
Dosage
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) is a gel and is intended for topical application. It should not be used for more than 10 days.
- Apply a 5-10 cm long strip of gel to the skin in the area of pain and gently massage it in; repeat 2-3 a day.
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) and contraindications to use
Contraindications to the use of Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) are:
- hypersensitivity to ketoprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or any component of the preparation,
- an attack of aspirin-induced asthma
- rashes
- rhinitis after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- bronchial asthma,
- frequent hypersensitivity reactions,
- exudative skin diseases,
- eczema,
- Burns,
- ulcers
- open wounds,
- skin damage.
- pregnancy (especially from the 6th month of pregnancy) and the period of breastfeeding,
- use in children up to 12 years of age,
- use under occlusive dressing.
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) – warnings
- The gel should not be used on large surfaces.
- Treatment should be discontinued as soon as allergic changes appear on the skin.
- The preparation should not be used on mucous membranes (genitals, eyes).
- People with heart failure, kidney or liver problems should exercise caution.
- Wear gloves when massaging the gel into the skin for a long time.
- For a period of 2 weeks after the end of the treatment, exposure to the sun (including a solarium) should be avoided.
- The use of Ketoprofen in pregnant women is not recommended.
- Pregnant women up to the 5th month may use the preparation only after consulting a doctor and if necessary.
- The use of Ketopronil in women over 6 months of pregnancy is prohibited.
- The gel should not be used during breastfeeding.
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) with other medications
Ketopronil gel (Ketoprofen) is absorbed into the skin in about 5%, therefore interactions with other preparations are unlikely. After systemic administration (including other NSAIDs), methotrexate has serious interactions.
Ketoprofen can inhibit the excretion of:
- methotrexate,
- soli litu,
can reduce the effect of diuretics:
- thiazide
- Furosemidu.
Ketopronil (Ketoprofen) – side effects
While taking Ketopronil (Ketoprofen), the following may occur:
- local skin reactions (erythema, rash, contact eczema, urticaria, pruritus),
- very rare: photosensitivity, dermatitis vesicular, anaphylactic reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, worsening of pre-existing renal dysfunction,
- in people allergic to acetylsalicylic acid and its derivatives, the preparation may trigger an attack of bronchial asthma.
