Ketoprom is a gel used topically in post-traumatic muscle and joint pain and tendinitis. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and a propionic acid derivative. Avoid using the gel on large surfaces and exposure to the sun during and two weeks after use. The preparation is available without a prescription.

Ketoprom is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a derivative of propionic acid.
Ketoprom – indications and dosage
Ketoprom gel is a product recommended for use:
- in post-traumatic pain in muscles and joints,
- in the treatment of tendinitis.
Dosage
Ketoprom is a gel and is intended for external use. Massage the gel into the sore spot. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose and continue the treatment for more than 7 days.
- Adults and adolescents after 15 years of age 2-4 g (3-5 cm) use twice a day.
Ketoprom and contraindications to use
What are the contraindications to the use of Ketoprom gel?
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- skin changes,
- rash,
- blemishes,
- wounds,
- skin damage or infections,
- bronchial asthma or active or history of allergic disease,
- a history of skin allergy to: thiaprofenic acid, phenobarbital, cholesterol-lowering drugs, sunscreen or perfume,
- use in people who experienced allergy symptoms in the form of an attack of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis after administration of acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
- use in children up to 15 years of age,
- use by pregnant women from the 6th month.
Ketoprom – warnings
- Ketoprom gel should not be used on large surfaces.
- Follow the recommended daily doses of the preparation.
- In the event of skin lesions / allergies, treatment should be discontinued immediately.
- Do not lubricate the mucous membranes (genitals, eye) with the gel.
- Do not use occlusive dressings on lubricated areas.
- People with heart failure, renal and hepatic dysfunction should exercise caution.
- Use protective gloves when massaging the gel into the skin for a long time.
- Avoid exposure to the sun (including a solarium) for two weeks after completing the treatment.
- The use of Ketoprom in pregnant women is not recommended.
- The use of the gel until the 6th month of pregnancy is prohibited, while pregnant women up to the 5th month may use the gel only after consulting a doctor and if necessary.
- Avoid using the preparation during breastfeeding.
Ketoprom with other drugs
Ketoprom is absorbed into the blood in about 5%, therefore interactions with other preparations are unlikely.
Ketoprofen can:
- inhibit the excretion of methotrexate, lithium salts,
- reduce the effect of diuretics (thiazide, furosemide).
Ketoprom, when used simultaneously with other anti-inflammatory drugs, may increase their effects, including an attack of bronchial asthma.
Ketoprom and side effects
When using Ketoprom gel may occur:
- local skin reactions (erythema, contact eczema, urticaria, pruritus).
- very rare: photosensitivity, dermatitis vesicular, anaphylactic reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation.
