The American came to the hospital with a rapidly progressing scrotal ulcer. Despite the treatment, the patient’s testicle fell out through the oozing wound. Doctors put them back and sewed them up. According to medics, gangrenous dermatitis that led to the incident could be a consequence of COVID-19.
According to the industry magazine “Urology Case Reports”, the 72-year-old presented to the urology clinic due to wounds and ulcers on his scrotum. Doctors after examinations diagnosed purulent gangrenous inflammation. This is a rare condition considered to be an immune system disorder, causing large, painful sores to form on the skin.
“However, shortly after the biopsy and before starting prednisone, the two scrotal wounds fused, causing the left testicle, which was still covered with tissue, to prolapse” — the authors of the article write.
After a quick consultation, the medics decided to insert a few small sutures to stop the process and minimize any further losses. The team returned the testicle to its place. The wound started to heal after the initiation of treatment and after five months there was no trace of it.

«The patient had a negative analysis of related systemic diseases. However, he recently underwent COVID-19 and this disease may have contributed to the development of gangrenous dermatitis.
